The idea for this light sour originated where all great ideas do—at brunch. While enjoying a mellow morning of good eats and good friends, our wood cellar blender, Lauren Limbach had the idea to create a mimosa inspired sour.
The result of her brunch induced fever-dream? Dominga. This beer features the citrusy-sweet fruit of Calamansi (a hybrid of kumquat and mandarin orange) in a light wheat beer blended with our wood-aged golden sour.

On tap at New Belgium - Denver Airport, pours a cloudy blonde with a tiny white head. Aroma is full of juicy citrus, light lacto, and a champagne-like quality. Flavour is dry, a fruity citrus character and a mineral-like spritzy character. Inoffensive but ultimately pointless.

Aromas and flavors are lots of orange. Flavors are mildly tart up front and a light sweet finish. Body is oddly both chewy and kind of thin.

Ever so slightly hazy golden and light orange coloured body with a thinnish, very fast-dying off-white and tan head. Aroma of soured and lactobilly funk with some light lemons an limes and a dash of wheat here - strong in the nose, especially for being a lighter beer/style. Light to barely Medium-bodied; Strong lactobilly and sour orange notes show at first with a light dash of wheats and softer yeast notes with some sour and tart elements, but the fruit here are the strongest, as are the light wheats, which show nicely. Aftertaste is pretty dry and easy-going with a dash of lactobilly funk with a lot of sour and tart notes with a litle briney elements, but the limes and lemons are really the strongest here, as are the lactobilly yeast elements and complexity. Overall, a pretty nice beer that is a blend of a sour and a gose, but this shows more of gose with some complexity at the yeast stage which makes this a touch more tart. Nice to sample and very good to try, especially as the air gets warmer for the season. I sampled this twelve ounce can, purchased from Wegman's in McLean (Tyson's Corner), Virginia on 17-April-2021 for US$1,99 (part of a mixed six pack), with a date on the bottom (best by?) of 15-August-2021 and sampled in my hotel room here in Patuxent River, Maryland on 10-May-2022.
