Bottled - live at Kerstbierfestival. A brown beer with a red shine under a thin lazing brown head. The flavor is very malty with strong notes of yeast, caramel, alcohol, as well as light notes of spices. The body is weak for a 9% ABV beer. The finish is dry slightly woody, spicy and with hints of licorice.

Huge, creamy dirty-brown head; opaque red-brown beer. Bitterish-nutty nose, with sweet molasses undertow. Rather harsh bitter initially, with some near-cloying restsugars in the background. The bitterness disappears fast, leaving dull sweetness, slightly Traubenzucker-like. Well bodied, very slick, but flat at the same time. Obvious alcohol warming. Sweet aftertaste. Very dull, unidimensional, boring beer. Supermarkt stuff indeed.

(Bottle 75 cl) Dark brown beer with a slight haze and a pretty, lacing head. Surprisingly dry for such a dark, strong beer. Mainly notes of plain, roasted malt and candy sugar. Decent, but lacks some character. 241001

Bottle conditioned (BB 08/2005)
Dark ruby with good cloudy brown head. Light aroma of toffee. Simple flavor of sugar and toffee plus some malts with warming alcohol kick. Maybe needs more maturing, now quite plain ale - not bad but not very complex.

Roman Brewery
Dark amber; creamy generous head. Aroma of malt, cork, nuts. Sweet, but less than other Christmas beers, malty, caramel, light liquorice, a bit corky, well balanced, with a well bitter final (also the roasted malt contributes).
