The End of History: The name derives from the famous work of philosopher Francis Fukuyama, this is to beer what democracy is to history. Fukuyama defined history as the evolution of the political system and traced this through the ages until we got the Western Democratic paradigm. For Fukuyama this was the end point of man’s political evolution and consequently the end of history. The beer is the last high abv beer we are going to brew, the end point of our research into how far the can push the boundaries of extreme brewing, the end of beer.

Handbottle. Courtesy of madmitch76. Pours a clear amber with no head. The nose is very boozy with some Calvados accents - the booze makes me cough. Medium body - if at all it makes sense to talk about "body" in a beer like this. The alcohol burns my lips - seriously burns. Again flavours of apple brandy, oops....I mean Calvados. Very salty and minerally with oxidized woody notes. Ends fairly bitter. Not all bad actually - I enjoy these experiments. Thanks for the effort yespr. 261010

Bottle at the Rake, London. Pours a rich, glowing, almost radioactive gold with no head. Holds a skunky, dank hop aroma. First impression of the flavor is fire and burning. Afterwards, there is perceptible sweetness, lightly bready malts, and some grassy hops. Some Golden Ale characteristics definitely come through. The beer is medium in body with basically no carbonation and ridiculous alcohol heat. With even a tiny sip, once the liquid crosses your lips it engulfs your entire mouth with alcohol warmth. The finish is boozy with some modest Belgian character present. A super-fun beer to experience, and really pretty nice to drink.

tiniest sip thank to some very nice guys and then a lucky win on raffle number 2 ... at cloisters AB:03 launch ... dark amber ... big peach ... little cheese ... little apricot ... little funky barnyard that i expect from sour but there is no sour ... nose ... peach ... apricot ... how odd ... how fruity ... hint of apple ... big explode in mouth flavour ... spicy hop ... little chilli finish... quite firey ... i think this could be even better than the bismark ... but I’ll never afford enough to be sure 4.3 ... what really got me was how much summer fruit character this had... ok empty glass with tiniest drop of water to rince ... lost little spice and fruit from nose ... much more funky barnyard dominated... soft peach ... little funk persists ... spice all but gone ...ok but think better neat

Small sample at The Rake. Bright yellow/gold. Hops are there. Really concentrated simcoe. Arom a is good. Quite hot alcohol as you would expect and my first sip was completely taken over by the hot alcohol, but once I got used to it, it settled down a bit. Sharp hop citrus fruit, honey and syrup, bit medicinal even on the finish. Wow. pretty good, but maybe touch too hot. Intense hop concentrate. Thanks to James and Tom from BrewDog for the chance to try this.

Entered to celebrate my rating number 18,200. Bottle 15/12. A golden beer with no head, but long clear curtains from the thick alcohol, when swirled in the glass. The aroma has strong notes of alcohol - so much that it burns in the note combined with sweet notes of rabbit pee - reminded me of cleaning out for my rabbits when I was a kid, berries, caramel, and fruit. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of the alcohol combined with notes of berries among them strawberries, fruit, caramel, and wood, leading to a dry and very alcoholic finish. The body is extremely strong - the alcohol burns on the lips and a lot in the throat. This beer offsets anything known, hence it is very hard to grade on a beer scale. Extreme, but interesting. Thanks to James and Mikkel for making this happen - what a night.

7th September 2010
The Rake Brewdog Event.
Thanks to James for sharing this with us and also to Tom for a generous measure! Crystal clear bright gold beer with a real presence of colour. Looks good even in it’s plastic cup. No head whatsoever! Aromatic nose - floral sweetness and a little herbs. Smooth but very dry palate. Spicy alcohol start but if you endure and keep it in the mouth there is some nice passion fruit and a hint of something medicinal. Some hop bitterness and then a big kick of alcoholic heat. Lingering spicy warm aftertaste. Strewth! A complex beer and I don’t think I got everything from the small sample so looking forward to spending some more time with this one day, letting it breathe and see what happens!
13th September 2017
Wow! This is now a deep amber beer (started life as a bright clear gold beer). No head, no surprise. Palate is light and dry. Big spicy hot sherry and brandy with intense tangy ripe fruits, some prune. Finishes dry with ferocious alcohol heat and spice. Well - just goes to show, even a 55% beer is not immune from oxidisation, that said it has lost none of it's ferocity. I honestly believe this will be drinkable for centuries!

A privilege and an honour to taste the world’s strongest beer on 7th September 2010 at the Rake in London, during an event organised by BrewDog. Bottle surrounded by "Susan" the Stoat. Thick and flavoursome. Smoke, malt whisky notes in aroma. Orange peel/citrus zest in-mouth, and a lingering grapefruit finish. Cutting "fire" in the mouth from the alcohol. Impressive.

@ mikkeller bar, brewdog event (one of the 3 bottles without animal) very very boozy eggy and sourish notes. Burns the nose bigtime. Stingy boozy aroma. Clear yellow no head. Flavor is fantastic. It burns and evolves into a nice hoppy based flavor that sort of explodes in the mouth like fireworks. Sort of like ice cider only the end result is an insanely hoppy and malty sensation. [4-2-9-4-18] --- @ Ørsted Ølbar the strongest beers of the world tasting (this time one of the stuffed animal bottles) clear yellow, no head. Rather mild (for a 55% alc. beer) aroma, faint flowery, spicy.Flavor is sweet malty, good amount of hops, lots of herbs and berries, good aftertaste. Note from first tasting about how it works is the same. This is pretty cool actually. [6-2-7-3-16]=3.4 new rate [5-2-8-4-17]=3.6
