Trevlig

25 cl bottle by mail order in Japan. Drink by 2015.11.30. Grainy nose, cereals, bread, crackers, light lemony hops. Touch of honey. Clear golden color, medium fine head. A bit sweet, malty, grainy, light honey and biscuits. Herbal, lemony hops, though as this is a bit old, they are diminished. Still, nicely peppery, prickly finish with decent bitterness. Prickly, persistent carbonation. Not the real thing, and would probably be better a bit fresher, but this is still a good beer.

Tap at Monks Cellar in Roseville, CA. Pours gold with a foamy/creamy white head. Aroma is mild yeast/fruit esters. Med body or nearly. Flavor is Belgian lite - yeast/spice, fruity esters, a bit earthy. Everything is rather mild, including the bitterness. Still, tho flavors may not be strong, they are very, very nicely integrated. Highly recommended.

Draught at YardHouse Fenway, 6/18/15
Mostly clear pale golden body is topped by a small white head that fades to just a smattering of cover.
Peppery phenols and spicy hops give a dry, aromatic nose and the lower gravity seems to lend a hand in less of the bubble gum/cotton candy of Duvel Senior. Still, a touch of pear skin and very light bubble gum break through, perched on top of light honey and soft, fresh bread-like grains. No alcohol or at most just a touch of dry, perfumey vapor mixed in with the esters.
Good balance to the flavor, which has a moderately sweet maltiness (sugar cookies, sweet white dough) balancing a crisp, lightly bitter happiness augmented by black and white pepper phenols leading to a fairly snappy finish. Quite drinkable and but for just a slight cotton candy-like sugariness that I don’t care for, it’s shockingly good. Much better than the boozy, overly estery Duvel, in my lower abv preferring opinion. Lightly slick texture, moderate, somewhat peppery carbonation.

Tap . Pours very clear blonde . Small white head . Smell is malty ( intenser than the usual duvel ) . Taste is bitter-malty . Like a less-intense duvel , but fuller than the ’groen’ in bottles - as far as my memory serves me . --- Beer merged from original tick of Duvel Groen on 08 Sep 2012 at 23:13 - Score: Appearance - 4 | Aroma - 5 | Flavor - 3 | Texture - 4 | Overall - 3. Original review text: beurk! this aint good ! duvel with added watter? goddamn , how to rape a duvel....

Süßlich-alkoholischer Antrunk.
