Bottle from Mikkellers Web Store (2020 batch). Pours dark coffee (almost black) with tiny brown head. Aroma is roasted malt, fudge, milk, syrup, vanilla, oak, prunes, soy sauce, coconut, sweet liquorice and South-East Asian shrimp paste. Taste is very sweet, medium bitter, faint acidic and light salty. Body is oily with faint carbonation. Finish is long and mostly sweet with notes of malt, caramel, fudge, soy sauce, vanilla, oak, coconut, lactose anise and salty liquorice.

Bottle split at the Autumn Watford tasting, thanks to Tips, 24/09/21. Black with a good sized tan head that retains well. Nose is chocolate, toffee, light spice, dried fruits, mellow roast. Taste comprises chocolate maltesers, dark malts, spice, toffee, brown sugar melt, molasses. Medium plus bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a spike of alcohol. Decent enough easy drinking impy.

Bottle shared in Watford - cheers to Tipple. Pours black-brown with a small, foamy tan head. Medium sweet flavour, some cocoa, burnt biscuits, earth. Medium bodied with fine carbonation. Lightly warming finish, pretty sweet, some burnt honey, sugary chocolate. Not bad, a bit basic.

Some alcohol. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, meaty. Roast, chcoclate Smoothie, milkshake, light strawberry nutty. Palate is medium sweet, oily, moderate carbonation. Nice.

330ml bottle [10.5% abv, 2019 vintage]. Jet black colour with small, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, tan head. Roasty, chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, couverture, cocoa, sweet-ish hints of chocolate cookies, a minimally spicy touch of vanilla, cinnamon, aniseed. Taste is sweet and roasty, chocolately, dark malty, notes of milk chocolate, dark chocolate, Belgian chocolate, hints of chocolate cookies, vanilla, a cautious spicy touch of aniseed and even less of cinnamon, minimally pungent, bitter hoppy counterweight; well hidden alcohol overall, a minimally warming effect in the finish can't be denied. Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine, soft, but efficacious carbonation. Not the most complex Impy Stout, but very chocolately, well balanced on a high level, dangerously drinkable - very good.
