Imperial Stout with Coffee. When asked for his definition of paradise, Mr. Cash said, "This morning, with her, having coffee." Our collaboration with Mostra coffee uses Costa Rican Aguas Claras beans to accentuate the rich, chocolatey notes of this fine stout.

Can from Beer Republic. Big coffee aroma with roasted malt, espresso, dark chocolate, beany coffee, some mocha and light fruity hints, and a little liquorice. Flavour is firm roasty bitterness and mild sweetness. Body is above medium. Doesn't have a lot of depth but the coffee onslaught is appreciated, flavour is on the roasty bitter side. Good!

Dark brown. Just a thin head. Aroma has both coffee and dark fruits on it. Lots of coffee on the palate, too. Medium body, just enough, some light dark sugar notes, bit of roast/toast from the malts. The fruitiness from the aroma doesn't really come through on the palate. Relatively simple coffee stout.

1 pint can. Pours a very dark brown with full head. Aromas of cola, nuts, freeze dried coffee and roasted malts. Flavors of same acidic like nuts but I guess it’s the coffee. OK.

Can from The Gull, North Vancouver
Black colour, large compact head. The aroma of coffee is evident. Medium body, compared to American Imperial Stouts; mild residual sweetness; some roasted malt character, coffee, this comes across as green peppers too, and lightly earthy; the coffee gets lost, feeling of old coffee grounds.
Frankly this just confirms that coffee is a difficult ingredient to successfully incorporate in a beer, most often it lends to off flavours. It's ok, not worth the price though.

Pint can from Ridgeview Liquor, 7/8/21. Black, large tan head, fair retention. Aroma of strong coffee, roast, a bit of dark chocolate. Taste is roast, coffee. A bit thin. Lingering bitterness. Booze mildly present but well hidden. Tasty.
