An award-winning golden bitter from an all malt brew, with Styrian Golding hops added at various stages, to give a classic hop flavour and aroma.

A bitter beer of great character, appealing to those drinkers who really appreciate their beer and are looking for quality.

Launched in 1995 as ‘September Ale’, Jennings Cocker Hoop has become hugely popular, particularly with Lake District tourists in summer

The name is derived from ‘Cock-a Hoop’, an old custom of removing the cock (or spigot) from a barrel and resting it on the hoop of the cask before commencing a drinking bout, but was changed to reflect the brewery’s location on the banks of the River Cocker.

Bottled. Hazy amber, small but rocky head. Aroma of honey and resiny hops. Dry and firmly malty with bold mouthfeel. Vague resiny bitterness. A bit unpolished.

Bottle, picked up from the brewery from Trev, Cheers Trev! Poured golden, crystal clear with nice white fluffy head. Some fruity hop aroma, taste was quite fruity as well, nice clean tasting refreshing beer good citrus taste and gentle honey like sweetness underpinning things, bitter towards the end.

Bottled (thanks tbone_). Deep golden colour with big creamy white head. Aroma is sweet caramel malts along with sweet fruity hops, also some hay in the background. Flavour is citrus, caramel malts and some bittering hops. A very nice and wellbalanced brew.

Honey golden color, small white head, some lace. Honeyish hoppy (cut grass), quite weak nose. Grapefruits and pine needles in the moderate hoppy flavor. Fruity notes. Bitterish finish. Reasonably ok session beer, just could be more lively.

Cask at the Wharf, Aalborg, DK. Clear golden beer with a small, bubbly and off-white head. No carbonation. The aroma is fruity, with bitter pines. Grapefruit, hops and malt-sweetness in the flavor, is finished off by a long, dry and bitter finish. Mellow mouthfeel. (060506)

(Bottle 50 cl) Pretty pale amber with a handsome head. Very neutral aroma - I miss some fruityness here. Vague touches of malt and caramel. Somewhat metallic edge. A bit disappointing. 250703

Amber color; thin head. Very nice hoppy aroma, herbal. Nice structure, flavor (malty), and again good aromatic hopping. Very good!

500ml bottle. Golden beer, whit head. Nice slightly yeasty creamy aroma, cut grass. Good brisk bittery hops, some citrus then drying finish. For a golden beer, bitterness dominates than the normal citrus flavours. Not a lot of fruit but extremely bitter. Not bad at all and would like to try the cask version.
