Bottle ABV: 4.2%
Cask ABV: 4.6%
An award-winning golden bitter from an all malt brew, with Styrian Golding hops added at various stages, to give a classic hop flavour and aroma.
A bitter beer of great character, appealing to those drinkers who really appreciate their beer and are looking for quality.
Launched in 1995 as ‘September Ale’, Jennings Cocker Hoop has become hugely popular, particularly with Lake District tourists in summer
The name is derived from ‘Cock-a Hoop’, an old custom of removing the cock (or spigot) from a barrel and resting it on the hoop of the cask before commencing a drinking bout, but was changed to reflect the brewery’s location on the banks of the River Cocker.

Bottle in London. 5th new rate from MJ's 500 this summer trip. Nice citrus hop nose, sulfur, chalk, light, crackery malt and some herbs. Deep gold, clear, with a high, fine head. Flavor is maltier, with biscuits, lemon, chalk. The peppery finish is nicely bitter but a bit too chalky for me. This was probably one of the first hoppy UK golden ales, like Tangle Foot, but has stood the test of time better. Certainly it has been surpassed with the inflood of new world hops. Definitely still a decent drinker, if a bit too chalky.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - hazy golden with a nice lacy head. Nose - lemon and meadow flowers. Taste - lemon barley water this time. Lemon or grapefruit pith bringing up the end. Palate - creamy and tangy. Light bodied and clean finish. Overall - much better than the bottled version.

Bottle from Lidl beer box @ home. Caramel colored with a medium sized white head that doesn't last long. Smells malts, caramel, iron, grains. Tastes malts, grains.. Pretty default beer. It's okay. Medium body, soft carbo.

"very high spirits" und 2. "boastful", was soviel wie "prahlerisch" heißt und gut zu dem eitlen Gockel passt, der die Vorderseite der Flasche ziert.
