33cl Can from Vonk. Deep amber-brown beer, beige head. Aroma of jenever, juniper, raisins, some grape, wood, glue-ish, very sweet, malty. Flavour is sweet, juniper, wood, malts, bittersweet finish, woody. Medium bodied, fizzy, slightly chemical. Not very enjoyable.

11th May 2019. Can. Light haze on this amber beer, tidy pale tan head. Smooth palate, slightly soft and mildly dry, decent fine carbonation. Soft malts, a light creamy sweetness. The rest of the beer is a curious but pleasing mix of white wine, white Port and marmalade! Brighter floral tangerine on the back end along with mellow dry spice. Nice! Unusual and drinkable.

0.33 l can from 'Sterk Avondverkoop', best before January 2024. Hazy, dark reddish amber with a thin, frothy, slowly diminishing, off-white head. Sweetish-malty, gently fruity and slightly vinous aroma of gooseberry, sultanas, white wine and some orange peel. Quite sweet, malty, abut sourish, moderately fruity and slightly vinous taste of raisins, sultanas, white wine, gooseberry and some lemon peel, followed by a medium long, moderately bitter, minimally tart, quite vinous, a bit woody and gently warming-alcoholic finish. Medium to full body, slightly effervescent mouthfeel, soft carbonation. Interesting beer, the light acidity freshens it up a little, but in my opinion white wine doesn't match that well with a Barley Wine, red wine is a whole different story though. Maybe some aging would do wonders.
