Brewed in the old tradition of March keeping beers, very strong beers meant for aging, this beer is intensely hopped during 3,5 hours of boiling in our direct-fired copper, fermented in open square to reach beyond 10% ABV and finally matured for more than six months before release. This Burton-style barley wine is a very characterful, rich and complex beer where the malty, hoppy and estery elements are elevated to the max. Best savoured on gloomy evenings by the candle light. Warning: This beer may be harmful to IPA drinkers.

330 ml bottle, from a trade with Holmen1. ABV is 10.5%. Cloudy brown colour, thin off-white head, moderate carbonation. Aroma of malts, syrup, dust, caramel, brown bread, alcohol. Sweet and malty flavour, brown kandij sugar syrup, molasses, dark dried fruits, oak, mild spices, some bittering hops in the finish. Warming mouthfeel.

33cl Bottle from Sterk. Slightly hazy ruby amber-brown colour, beige head. Aroma i slight sour, berries, hibiscus indeed, caramel, marmalade, stone fruits. Flavour is medium sweet to sweet, malty, fruity, tiny hint of sourness, fairly bitter, lots of sludge/dirt that detracts from the otherwise nice flavours. Bitter finish, a bit boozy. Too bad of the yeasty sludge flavour. Medium to full bodied.

33 cl bottle @ home. Deep ruby red color. Light beige head with little retention. Aroma’s: weird, herbs, moss? Retronasal also herbal, moss, sweet, some sourness, weird. Flavor is moderate sweet with light bitterness. Medium to full bodied. Finishes moderate bitter, herbal. Strange, not too likeable.
