In honour of St. Patricks Day, we have brewed this cask only special! An Irish dry stout that was designed for cask, brewed for cask and served on cask only! Pouring black with a light tan head, this traditional Irish stout presents a roasty, dark chocolate flavour with a subtle berry note. Eminently drinkable and surprisingly light!

440ml can from Squirrel, High Wycombe. Poured a clear dark brown colour with little life. The aroma is roasted malt, light ashtray. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, with a smooth, light, slightly watery, dry, earthy, liquorice bitter palate. Medium to light bodied with soft carbonation. Light, watery and very disappointing.

Almost black pour with a ruby hue and a small beige head. Aroma is roasted malts and chocolate with some ashy notes. A moderately sweet and dry roasted taste, roasted malts, woody char, with some bitter chocolate notes and a dry roasted and ashy finish. Nice.

Tap at mad Squirrel watford. A dark mahogany brown coloured pour with a lasting creamy light tan head. Aroma is earthy roasted barley light char, hint of smoke. Flavour is composed of rustic toasted malts, roasted barley, dirt, some charred wood, burnt grass. Palate is semi sweet, mellow mouth feel, short finish. Maybe a little thin. Nice rustic roast character.

[Cask at the Hope Tap (JDW), Reading.] A dark peaty brown pour with a tight tan head; aroma of deeply roasted grains and coffee; smooth in the mouth with an oaty feeling and a deep earthy bitterness from the roast; then some coffee notes to finish. A really satisfying stout.
