Cask at CBC, Covent Garden on 3rd April 2022. Deep sepia with disappearing tan foam and spot lacing. Coffee roast malt aroma. Spicy roastiness in-mouth with savoury nuttiness and a smoky touch. Roasty, smoky finish. Smooth if not flatmouthfeel and a medium body.

Draft: Poured a dark brown black with a tan head. Aroma is chocolate, roasted malts. Taste is ashy, chocolate, nutty.

Cask at the Wellington, Birmingham. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasty malt. The flavour is moderate to light sweet and liqourice bitter, with a smooth, light, roasty, smoky, liqourice, light chocolate, earthy, liqourice bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation.

Near black with a creamy tan head and roasted malt and dark chocolate on the nose and in the flavour, some coffee going on too, slightly thin for a Guinness clone, but streets ahead in flavour, dry bitterness and a hint of liquorice in the finish.

Cask at MS HW, 18/03/22. Pitch black with a good sized lasting tan head. Nose is roast malts, chocolate biscuit, charr, dried fruit rinds. Taste comprises earthy roast, cocoa sprinkle, dark malts, ashen tones, charr, earthy. Medium bodied, moderate carbonation, light drying close. Tidy cask stout.
