Altenburger Schwarzes.

Bottled 500ml (BB 10/2019, Prisma Mikkola) Dark nut brown colour, medium-sized beige head. Aroma has a bit of burned, wet ash toastyness, hints of grassy hops. Light-bodied. Quite watery actually. There is light toastyness, even hints of metal, later grassy bitterness. Tolerable but has not much substance.

0.5 l bottle from local 'Getränke Hoffmann', best before October 2019. Clear, very dark ruby to black with a medium large, frothy, stable, off-white head. Slightly sweetish, a little grassy-spicy aroma of grains and some straw. Moderately sweet, slightly bitter, gently roasty, a bit grassy-spicy taste of caramel, straw, some dark chocolate and a touch of coffee, followed by a short, moderately roasty-bitter, slightly grassy-spicy finish. Thin to medium body, gently effervescent mouthfeel, average carbonation. Very tame Schwarzbier character, actually something one could expect when part of the ingredients is 'Röstmalzbier'. Still a drinkable Lager.

(Bottle, 0.5 l - BB 12.10.2019, from a supermarket, 20190426) The beer poured clear and nearly black. Its head was medium sized and lightly brown. Aroma had burnt malts, grass and lightly metal. Palate was medium bodied with medium carbonation. Flavours were burnt malts, grass, metal and bitterness. Aftertaste was burnt and bitter. A too unbalanced brew in which burnt flavours were too strong for the thin body.
