A collab between YellowBelly and BrewDog, ‘Kottbusser’ is a long forgotten beer style, being revived over the course of two brews, a sour iteration at YellowBelly and a non-sour at BrewDog. Like many Northern German styles of the 1800’s, Kottbusser was a sour, similar in acididty to its relative, Berliner Weisse. Historically it was brewed with Pilsner malt, wheat, oats and honey, so for the first sour, the team used Scottish heather honey and Wexford Blackcurrants, to create a truly magnificent brew.

Can. Pink, cloudy. Honey, floral notes and berries in the aroma. Sour honeyish flavor with blackcurrant. Hint of butter. Interesting beer.

Can from The Drink Store in Dublin, AirBnB beer on laundry day. Bright hazy pinkish red color off white coca cola head. Big floral honey aroma. Taste is sweet and sour herbs and honey. Interesting.

330ml can. Pours a deep unclear pink, small off white ring atop. Aroma is fruity blackcurrant, honey. Crisp, lactic sour on the palate, equal distribution of blackcurrant fruit and heather honey, moderately sweet, works pretty well. Sticky close.

Can from O’Briens. Murky grape juice with no head. Aroma of tart fruit. Flavour is much nicer than the appearance, sharp foredt fruit, dry tart base, honey is hardly noticeable.

33cl can de Drink Store, Dublin. BB?

Cyclamen, veiled beer, seriously carbonated under a good pink head. Perfumey berry nose. I'd rather guessed cranberry than blackcurrant, FWIW. Dried cherries, bit dusty. Honey (very obvious), lactic acid, fruit flavours (once more unidentifyable). Flavours disappear quickly, leaving just the lactic acid and a backthroat honey flavour. Lipsmacking acidity, lean body, very good carbonatioN. Aftertaste is pure buttermilk. I'm not really convinced by this one. I'd rather say different, but I got a feeling as from " we want a sour fruitbeer, quick and easy". Instead of complexity and dedication. 7/4/73/13
