Bottle from De Bierliefhebber. Aroma is sweet caramel malt with peaty Bowmore, dried fruits, oak, ash, soft raisin, and smoke. Sweet flavour with a light bitterness. Body is above medium. Can't say that the peated whiskey works really well with the Barley Wine, it's a rough marriage for sure.

19th December 2020
Almost clear deep amber beer, short lived pale tan head. Smooth palate, semi dry, decent fine carbonation. Smooth malts, slightly thin. A pleasant light caramel and cream. The Bowmore is surprisingly light on the peat, for me, just about perfect because I can just about taste it. Mildly buttery fruity whiskey. Modest spice. Smooth semi dry finish, leaves a warm linger. Good stuff in the flavour department. But for the 2nd barleywine on the bounce, the mouthfeel is pretty thin.

Bottle, 11.0% at Beershoppen. Sweet brown sugar aroma, hint of peat. Clear dark brown colour. Small head. The flavour is sweet with lots of brown sugar. Has some smoke, or actually peat. Late warming alcohol.

Bottle. Dark brown color. Toffee and a hint of peat in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with licorice, dried fruit, toffee, hints of whisky, vanilla and peat. The potential is there, but the flavors don’t go well together. This beer just lacks balance. Still a decent beer, though.

Brown colour, minimal beige-ish head, which disappears quickly leaving back some minimal lacing; aroma and taste of peaty, licorice, whisky, burnt sugar, some raisins soaked into alcohol and smoke notes, too; spicy alcoholic aftertaste; not bad

Murky brown with quickly fizzed out head. Aroma has lots of sweet malts, caramel, raisins and sweet whisky. Flavour is similar but with a little bit of earthy smokiness too. Also sweet fruit cake with raisins. Shame about the weird carbonation.

Donker roodbruin bier met schuim. Smaak is zoet en warm krachtig met iets van rook, heel licht zuur fruit en wat gebrand graan. Gewoon een erg goed bier maar is iets te waterig om een echte topper te zijn wat mij betreft.

Head gone in seconds over somewhat hazy dark red-amber beer. End of bottle solid yeast. Alcohol, (dried) fruit, pastries, dark fruit on rum, fusels. Bitterish-sweet, but also somewhat dusty flavour; vinous, fusely. Bitter almonds, (bitter) marzipan. Hints at spirit, wood, peat; Thinnish feel, probably due to the alcoholthinning, lots of alcoholheat, undercarbonated. Maybe not the best, let alone the most refined in its segment, but still a pleasing sipping beer.
