Our À tout le monde beer was such a success that Jerry Vietz and Dave Mustaine were happy to join in a creative collaboration once again.

The result is a delicious saison that flirts with the pale ale style. Our Saison 13, with its pale amber colour and red-orange hues, is brewed with 13 carefully selected ingredients. This distinctive beer offers the perfect combination of malt, fruit and spices punctuated by its fresh hops taste.

Can: Poured a clear amber color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and light lacing. Aroma of caramelized malt with light spices and light yeasty notes. Taste is a mix of dry caramelized malt with some light spices and herbal notes with some light yeasty notes and a semi-sweet finish. Body is about average with OK carbonation. I was expecting more form Unibroue but this is poorly executed and lacks some attenuation and complexity.

Pretty easy drinking saison. Hay, a little lime and some light florals. Pours hazy orange with decent head and lacing. Clean finish. Very drinkable. Tall can.

Can from Corti Bros. Pours translucent copper with a frothy/foamy near white head that tried to lace a bit. Aroma is spicy/fruity in a moderate way without tropicals. Med body. Soft/lush mouthfeel. Flavor is mildly spicy (light clove?) with pale stone fruit - not much citrus. Sort of floral like UK ales. More pale prunus. Flavors are interestingly different - not overdone. Rather laid back. Pleasant drink.

Can from Big Top: pours light light orange with a white head. Aroma is lightly floral and slight fruitiness. Taste is somewhat tangy, yeasty, sweet. Not terrible but forgettable.

Mixes honey sweetness with strong lemon-apple yeast notes and a moderate floral bitterness, but loses gusto in the fade, settling into a medicinal, watery finish. Kinda like Dave Mustaine, I guess.

[16oz can from Holiday Wine Cellar, Escondido, CA.] A hazy amber pour with a loose white head; yeasty aroma; dry in the mouth with a not unpleasant blend of spices that seem to irritate the throat. Disappointingly adulterated.

Pour is a hazy orange with a large white head. Aroma is caramel malt and a pretty nice yeast ester. Flavor is at first is a bit thin. Then I get some ester and a bit of banana. The aroma is better than the aroma as this is a bit watery. Has everything that you want in a saison, it's just a bit weak and watery.
