Deep brown, ochre to mahogany body with a silky and tight knit tan foam. Intense malt driven aroma that embraces all things caramelised and toasted with coffee aromas being the main star. Heavy use of caramel and aromatic malts provide a deep malt flavour pushing chocolate, bread, biscuit, caramels and a round/full texture on the palate. Finishes with a decent bitterness balance to allow it be malty but not overbearingly sweet.

Can from Beer52. Dark brown with small beige head. Aroma of sweet roasted malt with notes of rich tea biscuits, brown bread, caramel; quite rich. Deep multi layered malty beer, somewhat meaty, all the notes above with some dried fruit also. Bitter finish gives it a nice bite. Medium bodied, chewy. Packs some flavour for the ABV. Impressive.

Can from Beer52. Dark brown with a yellowy-beige head. Good rich mouthfeel, almost oily. Espresso and brown sugar, chocolate, brazil nuts, dates and burnt caramel. Maybe just a tad too burnt, but nevertheless a fine and very tasty brew.

Large tan head left a foamed cover on a dark brown still body. Pepper, demerara & malt aroma. Medium bodied, soft & smooth with a clean back. Heavy malt, liquorice, roasted & burnt tastes with a bitter pine & hops finish. Good.

Can from Beer 52. Pours a very dark rddish-brown with a small frothy beige head. Sweet malts are the mainstay of the aroma, but also whiffs of vanilla and treacle. In the mouth it has a dark cloying consistency like gravy. Sweet malts and caramel briefly but there is bitterness (think toffee / parkin) lurking underneath and that soon comes to dominate. Finish is dry and bitter. There’s something not quite right about this one, but I can’t put my finger on it.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A dark mahogany pour with a reddish gleam and a fast fading beige head; fruity malt aroma; smooth caramel malt body with some tart red fruit; and a touch of burnt toffee to finish. Very tasty.
