Cask @ Waterhouse, Manchester. Wetherspoon Spring Beer Festival. Clear dark amber with a creamy head. It has bready malts and is a tad gritty for it. There’s a hint of sweetness too. Has an easy enough texture.

Cask-conditioned at the WG Grace (JDW), Bristol March 2022. Reddish amber in colour, with a slight, off-white, head. Leafy hop character, some red berries and tangerines, sweetish and slightly bready malts and a moderately bitter finish. Enjoyable.

[Cask at the Old Manor (JDW), Bracknell.] A reddish amber pour with a dense cream head; grainy malt aroma; strong caramel malt taste; then a woody bittersweet finish. A proper “heavy” bitter.

Cask at Fall Well, Liverpool. Pours a cloudy golden brown with a small foamy off-white head and good lacing. There is a malt-lead aroma, and this carries on into the mouth. Where it starts sweet and nutty but then becomes sharp and rough with autumn fruits and floral hops. Finish is slightly bitter. This is pretty bland.

Cask at the standing order. Pours clear amber, thin bubbly white head. Light red fruit aromas, nutty, but faint. Light spice on the taste, no real citrus as promised. Thin finish.

On cask at the Standing Order. Appearance - a nice amber to red. Nice head. Nose - biscuits and light red fruit. Taste - more of the same. Palate - light to medium bodied with a creamy yet dry texture and a long dry finish. Overall - good. Reminds me of Black Isle Red Kite.

Retro reviews from Spring 2012 Wetherspoons Beer festival; This is more like it maybe it has something to do with the new world hops used but has just the right balance between citrusy hops and malts.
