Bottle from a local bottle shop. Aroma is fairly vinous with red wine, oak, cherries, malt, some caramel, definite spicy notes, more wood, touch of juniper and funk. Flavour is moderate to medium sweet with a hint of tartness. Not boozy at all. Body is medium. Interesting, the red wine barrel aging certainly comes across well, somewhat complex, good beer.

Barrel aged 2023 edition. Dark reddish brown, small head of fine bubbles. Nose is light brown sugar caramel. Lightly acidic, moderate complexity with nice woody barrel notes. Smooth but present bitterness, plum and sour cherry notes, great balance and you don't notice the 12% alcohol at all. Very tasty!

(Draught at Craft & Draft, Amsterdam, 11 Aug 2023) Dark brown colour, almost black, with frothy beige head. Malty, vinous nose with oak wood, dark chocolate, coffee and a slight touch of acidity. Malty, fruity, slightly tart taste with notes of caramel, cherries, red fruit, oak wood, and a finish with low bitterness and a mild acidity. Full body, quite sweet. Rich and complex, with a gentle woody acidity. Very nice.

Clear chestnut colour, medium sized creamy beige-ish head; aroma and taste of dried sour cherry, some prune, cocoa powder, burnt sugary and some alcoholic spicy notes; good one

Boozy with a light body. Okay made, but not better than average for any big beer, certainly not eisbock. Bierkonig ams
