Abrikoos Lambic

A quite shiny, intense orange, pretty hazy (on the verge of murky). Gets pretty much no head, just a few bubbles that disappear almost instantly. The aroma is surprisingly not too vivid, with sour fruity notes upfront (apricot of course, but also significant lemon-like citricness) and just the slightest bit of funky character, with a bit of soft/wet feel to it. Even the apricot notes actually don't shine that much. Taste shows a good amount of sourness, mainly citric with a hint of lactic. Apricot notes are complemented by lemonish fruitiness as per aroma. Again, very limited funky character, perhaps with a touch of wet wood. Brightness and taste definition are so-so. Quite sour in the overall balance (the amount of sourness is significant as mentioned, and sweetness is maybe a tad lower than usual), but still ok. Light to medium body, very close to 0 carbonation; not as slick as other flat lambics though, feels somehow heavier than expected for the abv. Overall: still drinkable, but definitely disappointing. Sadly, wasting money on low quality lambic is becoming a more and more common experience.

Pours clear, yet very dark blonde. Small white head fades fast. Scent is Apricot heavy, but very funky, woody lambic underneath somehow has a certain upperhand. very natural, mature and raw, unlike the smoothness from for instance Fou Foune, this one is all about rawness. Taste is full, lambic-focussed for sure, but apricot shines trough nicely. Has a sulphuric impression to it. Again, raw and rough, mature and somehow, very well balanced. Perhaps it used to be a bit more fruity when more fresh, but at this specific point, I'm rather happy with it just the way it is !

Interesting to read other ratings here cause our bottle was not like what others describe, close to no fruit character, and while the base is convincing enough, pleasantly funky with a mild but pleasant acidity, it’s not what you’d expect from a fruited lambic for sure.

Orange with a small, lively head. Apricot, barnyard, acidic, tart citrus, hay. Medium body with good carbonation. Finish is bright tart fruit and dry. Insanely easy to drink this way too fast.

2023 375mL bottle drunk 10/17/24. Deeply burnished brass. Large, off-white, fizzy head. Like their nectarine, it's deeply funky with excellent barnyard/sulfur character to go along with the rich, authentic, well-done fruit. Quite a bit of acid here, maybe a hint of acetic and lots of lactic. Plentiful apricot acidity, as well, with little/no wood character. Very carbonated, initially, with a surprising bit of oak up front. Apricot quickly adds a fruity acidity and there's a hint of acetic on the finish joined by quite a bit of lactic character. The fruit is interesting, if maybe a bit too acidic/dry. The barnyard promised initially in the nose seems nowhere to be found and the body is a bit on the thinner side, while the abv is inexplicably high for a lambic. A bit too much stark lactic character, as well. None of the issues are major, but there are a lot of them and they all add up. Assuming this is too young.
