Pours hazy deep golden with a off-white head. Aroma has notes of malt, caramel and dried fruits. Taste is medium sweet and medium bitter with a long warm, caramel and dried fruity finish. Body is medium to full, texture is oily, carbonation is soft.

Solsletta Nyttårsaften 2022. Deep golden color with beige head. Aroma is alcohol, pine, oranges. Flavor is alcohol, pine, grapefruit, oranges, malt, grass. Very nice beer.

Can. A hazy dark golden to amber colored beer with a finger-thick off-white head. Some lacing. The aroma is boozy, piney and resiny, with sugary pale malts. It's full-bodied, warming and nicely carbonated, with a good bitterness. The flavor has a good dash of alcohol and malts, but the hops do the most of the work. Resin, pine cones, hints of grass and some fluor and even more pine cones and needles. Lasting bitter finish. A very fine American style barley wine. Hop driven and warming enough. 221231

Can from Drankenhandel and supped in my Leiden hotel room. Pretty much a clear amber beer with a good yellowish pale tan head. Smooth and semi dry palate, decent fine carbonation. A light malt creaminess here and a touch of caramel. Hopping is lively. There is a suitably ripe marmalade streak running broadly. On top a light touch of brighter citrus and a fair dose of floral bitterness. Finishes smooth and semi dry with a hop spicy linger. Good. Clearly a barleywine but whilst the hopping is up front it doesn't overtake the barleywine character. Hello Cloudwater?!

440ml can, #200, from Vinmonopolet Langnes. Stable, dense off-white head leaving crocheted lacing on the glass. Misty amber coloured body. Promising mid-sweet aromas of dried fruits and grain. Slightly jam-like taste profile, hints of caramel, dried fruits, and grain. Welcome dried fruity bitterness towards the ending. Full bodied. Slow sipper qualities. (Tromsø 16.05.2022).
