7.2/10 Appearance 8 Aroma 8 Flavor 7 Texture 6 Overall 7
Bottle from O’Brien’s, Athlone [291015]
Orange amber, hazy, frothy off white head, good lacing for abv
Aroma of sweet fruity malts, tropical fruits, resinous hops, orange, mango, very sweet fruity, no booze
Taste is quite malty, sticky resin, rich sweet fruity caramel malt base, lots of resinous and piney hops, aggressive hops, caramelized orange, bit too boozy, taste not as good as aroma
Palate - Medium carb, full body, rich sweet, very bitter hops. Finish a bit dry, bitter hops, lingering bitter alcohol, tad harsh
Overall - Plenty of punch in this, finish a bit over boozy. Maybe better a bit less strong but certainly it’s a good DIPA.
