Bayer is our take on a quintessentially Norwegian style of beer. This lager uses Munich, caramel and even a bit of chocolate malts so has the body and flavour to hold up to the richest of meals. It pours dark with a beautiful creamy head, but despite its appearance it's light with finely hopped, so it's equally perfect to drink on its own.

200ml draught at Tromsø Mikrobryggeri. Deep ruby-brown body, lacing rings down the glassware from a tiny beige head. Inviting dark bread-like malts on the nose, mid-sweet. Moments of toffee and caramel to the taste character joined by a biscuit bite. Slightly roasted ending notes. Drinks well. Pleasing. (Tromsø, 11.06.2024).

From tap at Habitat, Trondheim, with Sindre 06.02.24. Mahogany amber. Beige head and lacing. True to style with medium dark malt, syrup, prunes and noble hops. Quite dry. Good drinkability!

Can. It's an unclear brown beer with a finger-thick beige head. Curtains. The aroma is as suspected quite gentle, with caramel, borderline toffee, some dark dried fruit and a bready hint. Prune, dried fig, chocolate and cocoa notes. It's medium bodied and semi-dry, nicely carbonated, with a gentle bitterness. Roasted malts, caramel, dark chocolate notes, some dried fig and a nuttyness in the flavor. Medium length finish. A decent one indeed, pushing the Bayer style a bit further. Well suited as a beer to winter food. 240204

330 ml can, from Helgø MENY, Hundvåg. ABV is 4.7%. Mahogany colour, moderate to small beige head. Aroma of brown bread, faint hints of caramel and chocolate. The flavour is not too sweet, but has the same elements as the aroma, also hints of burnt breadcrumbs. Moderate hops.
