Bottle from kihoskh. as Barrely Winter pours a very very very dark brown, settles black, very small brown head that soon disappears. Surprisingly dark. Super nice roasted malty and various kind of boozy aroma, low on burnt or dark caramel, high on roasted malts, coffee notes, barrelled booze notes, wood. aroma is like a super good barrel aged imperial stout. Flavor is wood, glue like notes from too much wood i think, roasted malts, booze, fainter dark caramel without the bitterness notes. end is almost licorice like. Too much glue and weird woody notes I think. You do not lack complexity, but some of the things in there I could do without. I hope they try this again cause I'm sure with some experimentation they can end up with a super complex super well tasting beer.

On tap at MBCC 2023, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is a boozy hot mess, with lots of cognac, booze and dark sugars. Flavour is harsh and just bad, with cognac barrels, booze, and vile messiness. This is really bad. A bad idea poorly executed.

Taster during MBCC 2023 Friday morning session shared with Ryan, Matt, Phill, Erik, and Brian. Weird barrel here. Looks like one of those examples when Cognac barrel doesn't work very well.

Draft at MBCC 2023, Blue session. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a mostly lasting frothy off-white head. The aroma is roasted malt, light peat. The flavour is moderate liqourice bitter, with a rich, smooth, roasty, dry peaty, warm alcohol bitter palate. Over medium bodied with average to soft carbonation.
