Kutfruit is a blend of one- to three-year-old lambic macerated with Mirabelle de Nancy. Each year, Sam and Kristof travel to a small village in the region near Nancy in France to source this exceptional fruit, working together with a local grower who proudly continues the tradition of their family farm
Bringing these mirabelles to the brewery is never straightforward. They are harvested by hand only when they have reached their perfect ripeness, becoming incredibly soft, delicate, and sweet. This leaves only a very narrow window in which the fruit can be picked, transported, and processed at its very best.
And the name? It originated during the search for the ideal ripeness for the very first vintage in 2020. Back then, we worked with a different grower, and the combination of stress, frustration, and a fair amount of colorful language eventually led to the name Kutfruit. Despite the challenges, the result convinced us that the effort was more than worthwhile. Of course.
There are plenty of other theories about how we came up with this name; our Dutch-speaking fans do have another theory about the origin of the name... we'll neither deny nor confirm the theory just to keep them questioning it.
The enormous sweetness and perfumed character of Mirabelle de Nancy find a natural partner in the vibrant acidity and complexity of the lambic, creating a beer that is both elegant and remarkably expressive
