Party Tricks IPA

(Draught at Akkurat, Stockholm, 11 April 2024) Golden colour with lasting, off-white head. Fruity, hoppy nose with notes of grapefruit, pine needles, pineapple and biscuits. Fruity, hoppy taste with grapefruit, mandarin, pine needles, pineapple, biscuits and a balanced citric/piney bitterness. Medium body, with a slight sweetness. Solid and well made IPA. Very nice.

Yellow with light haze and lacy head. Very floral. Also lots of lemon blossom. Not particularly bitter. Smooth mouthfeel .

Old school IPA in feel. Big on malt. Pine and a little caramel. Golden pour with persistent head and decent lacing. Medium body. Bitter end. Pleasant. Can, probably not super fresh as it's from Total Wine.

US Pint blik van Beer Republic. Diepgouden kleur, witte kraag. Licht harsig, wat caramel, bloemig, moutig, bitter. Lichte body. Degelijk, lekker.

can from Beerrepublic.eu. Orange golden color with white head. Hoppy aroma with grapefruit, oranges, zest, pines. Taste is hop centered with grapefruit, oranges, zest, peach, tropical fruits,stone fruit. Long fruity hoppy bitter finish. Nice one, give me more.

Very clear deep copper and bronze coloured body with a super thin, almost non-existant off-white head that seems about right, because the can seemed to have lost pressure, but was still full and unopened. Aroma of bready, slightly deep stone fruits with peaches, apricots and some deep malts also here, along with a kick of yeast and bread at the end. Medium-bodied; Relatively malty and biscuity notes come through at first, with some earth and toffee notes, too, but the dry and grainy aspects all come through and leave a bit of space for more of the bitter nuts and hops to finish out the taste with a robust characteristic that complements the malt. Aftertaste is pretty clean, with a lot of the slightly nutty and rustic qualities from the malt and grain here, with some bread as well, but the hops are still present as is some bitterness. Overall, a decent enough IPA that is more bready, yeastie and malty than I expected from AleSmith - but of course, good to try this far removed from San Diego - I'm happy I even saw this at a store! Not my favourite, but i'm okay with that. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Total Wine in Alexandria (Potomac Yard), Virginia on 13-November-2022 for US$3,99, canned on 25-March-2022 and sampled at my house here in Washington on 20-November-2022.

Can.A golden colour with medium fluffy head.Aroma of pineapple and hops mild greapfruits and grass mild bready to with mild finish.

Can. Pours lightly cloudy golden with a large foamy white head, light citrus aroma, adequate carbonation, bitter citrusy taste with faint piney flavor, thin body, long bitter finish. Nice West Coast style IPA.

Can picked up from Beer Republic webshop Breda, Netherlands and consumed at home Sunday 14th January 2024 listening to King Creosote - I Des now listening to Ducks Ltd - Modern Fiction. Loz is cooking Lamb with Dried Figs and Star Anise. Pours light to mid gold, hazy appearance mid sized white head. Nice softness, good bite, fruity more citrus than resinous there is a little nod to tropical touches. Good.

I located a one pint can at a Total Wine in Cedar Park, TX late in the fall, it's time to sample it. Generally, I like Alesmith beers, so there is that going on. Opening the can and tilting inside of a globe glass. The appearance is an opaque, light gold liquid with a complementary head of absolutely white foam. The smell is going the right direction, there's hops, pine and biscuits. I lift for a taste, the hops stay in the mix, citrus, some grassiness, a small bit of toffee and a moderate bitterness at the finish. I call this a nice, down-the-middle, old school IPA. Makes me happy these are getting easier to find these days.
