Refrigerated 12 oz. brown bottle poured into a snifter. Black with dark brown highlights and medium beige head which dissipates fairly quickly. Aroma is roasted barley, medium body, medium/light carbonation, and thin small-bubble lacing. Taste is roasted barley and chocolate. Good stout, not really that dry.

Keg at Hopmonk Tavern, Sonoma, 28/04/14. Black with a big old light tan head that retains well. Nose is roast malts, grain, biscuit, papery, light toffee trace. Taste develops well after a rather thin nose, cocoa, vanilla, toffee fudge, mellow dark fruits. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, smooth on the palate, light drying close. Decent dry stout.

(bottle) clear very dark brown colour with a small brown head; aroma of caramel, roast, fruit; flavour disappointing after the aroma - weak and watery, balanced

Bottle from Londonderry Quick Stop. Pours a dark brown bordering on black with a huge off white head that takes a few to recede. Aromas of roast and hints of caramel, dried fruit, and chocolate. The flavor follows the aroma quite well. Slightly tart roasted grains with a hint of caramel and chocolate. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a slick almost creamy mouthfeel. Decent stout, I could drink it, but its not one of my favorites.

Bottle. Opaque black liquid with small to medium light tan head. Aroma of licorice, pumpernickel, dried fruit, raw sugar, chocolate and light ash. Taste is dry to light sweet and light to medium bitter with notes of licorice, chocolate, bread and raw sugar. Medium bodied with medium carbonation. Ok but very much licorice.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours very dark brown, almost black color; with a 1 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a small cap that lingers. Light spotty soapy lacing clings down the glass. Aromas of cocoa, chocolate, roasted malt, light char, toast, molasses, raisin, toffee, light coffee, and roasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity; decent strength. Taste of cocoa, chocolate, roasted malt, toast, light char, molasses, toffee, light raisin, light coffee, and roasted earthiness. Lingering notes of cocoa, chocolate, roasted malt, toast, molasses, toffee, light raisin, and earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Very nice balance and complexity of roasted flavors with some light fruitiness; with good robustness, and zero cloying flavors present after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a lightly creamy, chalky, and fairly crisp mouthfeel that is good. Alcohol is very well hidden with almost zero warming noticed after the finish. Overall this is a very good dry stout style. Good balance and complexity of nicely robust flavors; and very smooth to drink. A nicely enjoyable offering; but I probably got an old bottle judging by the fruitiness and molasses notes.

Bottle. Pours dark black with a ruby tint. Medium beige head that slowly dissipates with nice lacing. Aroma is roasty, coffee. Flavor is about the same, light sweetness and some lemon, citric astringence and cigarrette butt flavors. Light bitter finish. Neither the aroma nor the flavor is strong. Light body, strong carbonation. Not bad, not great.

Smells like roasty malt. Aroma has nut in bitterness and pours black with lots of brown foam. Taste has medium bitterness and light sourness. Medium carbonation. Bottle.
