Dark color, almost black. Mild hop aroma, some fruits. Good body strength, good chocolate flavor, with some roasted malt, some hop resins and mild orange presence. Still strong bitterness, and comforting alcohol warmth in the final.
The hop is probably fading away, but the chocolate flavor is getting more complex, and it’s very appealing overall.

Dark brown color, with small head. The aroma is quite nice, with some roasted and dusty malts, and some hop, but less than expected. Good body strength (stronger than the Amarillo, for example), with strong and very pleasant caramel flavor, good as Germans can in the fine Doppelbocks, nice sweetness compound, and quite some resiny hops, although this beer shines more for the nice use of dark malts than for the hops; the alcohol perception is also very low.
Very good.

75 cL bottle. Pours hazy dark/orange brown with a small tan head. Solid hoppy, pine and slight herbal to fruity aroma. Bitter, ligh toasted malty and dry herbal to pinewood like hoppy flavoured. Lasting pine to herbal hoppy into a dry and bitter finish.

Bottle 750ml. @ [ Tasting by fiulijn ].Clear dark brown colour with a average, frothy, good lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, dusty, dark malt, moderate hoppy. Flavour is moderate to heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, dark malt, dry, hoppy, licorice notes. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. [20110916]

Bottled. A dark brown beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of hops, malt, and spices. The flavor is sweet with notes of malt, caramel, dusty bhops, and fruits, leading to a bitter finish. Thanks fiulijn for sharing.

Bottle: Very deep amber coloured, hazy, medium-sized stable tanned head; subtle herbal-citric hoppy nose with a sweet roasty-caramelly base; solid bitter-sweet flavour, full bodied; sweet rpoasty and malt-bitter finish. Still pretty sweet, but all in all well balanced.....

Bottle looks really good, but not easy to open. Beer in the glass deep black, small head. Mild aroma. Starts mild, soft malty, then more and more dry,, fruity hints, sweet background. Finish with a touch of caramel, well balanced, fine spicy-woody. Excellent!

Wenig süßer und harmonischer Antrunk von gelungenen Röstnoten sowie intensivem und vollmundigem Hopfen. Dabei ist der Hopfen etwas stärker als die Malzigkeit, die aber durchweg in fast gleichwertiger Intensität überzeugt. Würziger Mittelteil, das Bier bliebt vollmundig und büßt keine Aromen ein. Etwas Melone, reife Banane. Der Alkohol ist ab dem hinteren Mittelteil erkennbar, vorher wurde er gut verborgen. Dennoch absolut rund und weiterhin unerwartet aromatisch. Dunkelmalziger Abgang mit leichten Tannennnoten, dezent bitter, der weiterhin starke Hopfen ist ein wenig trocken. Ein rundum gelungenes Bier. 9/12/12/13/12/12

Ein Single-Hop Strong Ale mit Chinook-Hopfen. Gebraut nach dem Reinheitsgebot! Dunkelbraun-schwarz im Glas, voluminöser, feinporiger Schaum. Das Bier riecht toll hopfig-grasig. Total frisch nach Hopfen, dazu malzig-dickflüssig! Der Antrunk ist explosiv - sehr intensiv nach a) frischem, grasigem Hopfen und b) nach einem schönen, dickflüssigen und toffeartigem Strong Ale. Tolle Kombination, die sich im Hauptteil noch weiter ausbaut. Kaum alkoholisch, nur durch die Wärme ist der Alkoholgehalt präsent. Die dickflüssige Toffe-Note harmoniert hervorragend mit der grasigen frische des Hopfens, dessen Herbe im Nachgeschmack auch angenehm deutlich, aber keinesfalls penetrant durchkommt. Auf der Zunge verbleibt eine Kombination aus frischem, aromatischem Hopfen, dazu malzige Strong-Ale-Süße mit einer angenehmen Herbe. --> Ganz ganz tolles Bier!!
