When the breweries Freigeist Bierkultur, Beer Kong and Olbermann met for collaboration purposes, it was clear that the planned beer could only be an Alt beer. This traditional style of beer from their homeland has been brewed there for centuries and is just as much part of the culture as Düsseldorf’s old town or Heringsstipp. Because the variety was established so quickly, the brewers had plenty of time to refine their recipe. They didn’t want to reheat just any old camel, they wanted to create a young, fresh and modern interpretation of the legend. The end result is a hoppy Altbier with a wonderful smoky note that not only makes its creators happy.

Tap. Murky pale brown color with beige head. Aroma is a bit farty, hoppy, caramel. Taste is the same, quite a bit of yeastcake, bitter finish. Silky mouthfeel, medium carbonation. A bit muddled.

Sampled @ Borefts Bier Festival 2022. A hazy orange brown beer. Aroma of sweet caramelized malt, nuts. Taste of mid sweet caramelized malt, nuts, spicy bitter finish.

On tap at Borefts 2022. Cloudy mud brown colour. lasting white head Malty alt aroma. Good hoppy alt in the mouth. pretty tasty. definitely hoppier than most alt. sweet sour balance.

23/IX/22 - 75cl bottle @ Borefts Day 1, BB: n/a (2022-1194) Thanks to all for sharing today’s beers!

Cloudy muddy brown beer, big irregular off-white head, unstable, falls down quickly, bit adhesive. Aroma: oxidized, fruity, cow fodder, malty, a bit funky, soft roast, sourish impression, a bit of a weird hoppy mess. MF: lively carbon, medium body. Taste: very malty, a bit watery, bitter, dry, very hoppy, wry, grassy touch, meh. Aftertaste: watery, a little malty, grains, cow fodder, very dry, hoppy, grassy ending, meh. Not a big fan, despite the fact that I can appreciate a good Alt Bier.
