Bottle. Hazy amber color with beige head. Aroma is praliné indeed, hazelnut chocolate. Taste is praliné, hazelnut chocolate. Oily mouthfeel with medium carbonation. I love the hazelnut chocolate character!

Uiltje’s ‘herfstbock’ for the 2018 season in the Netherlands, bottle from Rotsaert. Thick and regular, pale yellowish beige, moussy head, very lightly hazy, warm copper-hued deep ‘autumny’ amber robe with swirling strings of fizz, misty with sediment. Aroma of old Belgian chocolates and chocolate bars with vanilla filling, ‘dame blanche’ almost, strong melting butterscotch and caramel candy, touch of nougat and white chocolate, breakfast cereals, hazelnut, stewed apple, banana, peach, subtle hints of dry earth and iron shavings. Sweet onset yet less so than expected based on the aromatized nose, candied peach, red apple and vague banana peel notes, lively fizz, minerally but still with a slick, lean body; caramelly and lightly peanutty malt base, but at the same time a bit thinnish and cereally, quickly lifted up by the ‘praline’- and even somewhat ‘borstbollen’-like added aromas, desserty and pleasant but not over the top. Ends caramelly-cereally malty and mildly earthy-hoppy. In its core, this is quite a typical but well-made Dutch style ‘bokbier’, but the added aromas, applied here in an elegantly desserty way without dominating the actual taste too much, distinguish it from the classic Dutch Bocks made by larger producers. Pleasant little autumn beer I’d happily revisit.

Bottle. Dark amber pour. Aroma of chocolate malt, nuts, ripe fruit and caramel. Taste has hazelnut, chocolate malt, caramel, dates and some yeast. Allright.

Fles geprobeerd bij de Hamse Bok in Dongen. Het heeft een oranje bruine kleur met weinig schuim. Het heeft een zoete chocolade achtige geur. De smaak is vol, zoet, gebrande mout, hazelnoten en chocolade.

Bottle at home. Unclear red brown with offwhite head. Sweet malts, caramel, toast, roasted chestnuts, hazlenut skin, milky chocolate, omnipollo hazlenut aroma, coffee creamer. Massive sweetness, moderate bitter. Over medium body, sugary feel. Soft carbonation. Nut aroma tastes like drops from a magic bottle, same same as ever. No real complexity and not blending well with the other aromas.

Thuis in de tuin uit een flesje. Donkere amber kleur, weinig schuim. In de geur toffee, in de smaak volop chocolade. Lekker, maar je moet er geen twee achter elkaar van drinken (dat heb ik dan ook niet gedaan).

schenkt vrij licht bruin/amber met rode gloed en lichte kraag. aroma van erg veel hazelnoot, bladeren, aards, muffig, moutig, chocolade en wat weeïg. Smaken zijn zacht, romig, glad, redelijke co2, veel praline, redelijk zoet, wat dun, chocolade en hazelnoot. aroma is beter dan de smaak
