Bottle at home Sainsburys beer hunt 2013 split with Sarah. Light amber colour. Aroma is sweet caramel and some hedgerow / bramble hop Flavour follows caamel / toffee malt. Mellow low bitterness. Finish is dry. Decent enough the hops are wasted by the toffee malt.

Bottle from Sainsbury’s, Murrayfield [270913]
Amber, clear, frothy white head
Aroma - Dry dull citrus zest, some grassy hop, dab of straw, caramel malt
Taste - Dry bitter dull citrus hops, some grassy hop, not much fruits, some straw notes, background of caramel malts
Palate - Medium carb, fairly light body, fairly bitter palate. Finish - quite dry, bitter hop tail
Overall - Not a US pale ale, hops are mainly bitter with straw and grass, little fruits, some caramel. Better than the other Maxim in the Sainsbury’s comp...prob would be better on cask....rather average

500ml bottle at home. Butterscotch. Taken off the yeast too soon, pasteurised to buggery, taken all the flavour out, and left the taste of brewing faults. Butterscotch. The hops are there if you look really, really hard. Somebody needs to give these guys a decent IPA. Did I mention the butterscotch? Not good.

Bottle at home in London with Gordo. Pours clear gold, effervescent with a creamy white head. Nose has a bit of doughy bread, some orange, a bit of straw. Light to medium sweet flavor with mildly doughy malts, low bitterness, light floral notes. Light bodied with fine to average carbonation. Sweet finish, some cereal, straw, biscuity pale malts. Fine.

I don't know why it's lost my rating for this one. I'll add another full review if / when I have it again. I only remember being a bit underwhelmed.

50cl bottle from the Sainsbury’s Beer Hunt 2013 range. Clear gold lasting off white head. It’s got some hops. A little toffee malt. Hops on the finish are pretty good. It’s an ok slightly hoppy slightly toffeeish beer. OK.

500ml bottle. Pours dark orange with a large head. Aroma is buttery toffee and caramel. Taste is gassy. Some straw and caramel. No hops. Crap.

50cl bottle from the Sainsburys Beer Hunt 2013 range. Amber with a thin cream head; citrus aroma; tropical fruit taste; and a lightly bitter finish. Rather unexciting, and not living up to its name.

Cask at Quakerhouse, Darlington. Orange amber colour, foam white head leaving some lacing and tropical fruits, citrus & biscuity malt aroma. Malt caramel taste with tropical fruit & earthy grapefruit bitterness. Smooth creamy mouthfeel, medium bodied, soft to medium carbonation, dry bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

Cask at Olde Starre in York. Pours dark amber with a creamy head. Rich fruity aroma. Med body. Flavor is very fruity - even suggesting peach. Nice bitter finish.
