Barrel-Aged Imperial Stout with Pumpkin and Fall Spices

If you liked Basic Becky, you're going to LOVE Basic Rebecca. She's exactly the same as Becky except she's barrel aged, so she lives, laughs, and loves a little bit harder.

-sampled horizontally with 'basic becky'
a: oily topped dark brown body | no head
a: sap | star anise | bourbon
f: rich anise | deep nutmeg | strong malts
t: alcohol warmth | licorice bite | honey & maple finish
o: complex | deep & pungent | still has an edge!

stubby twelve ounce bottle | Byron's Liqour Warehouse: Oklahoma City, Oklahoma | 01-September-2022 | US$11,69 | bottled: 18-August-2022 | sampled: 07 & 08 October-2024 (aged just over two years after purchase!)

-final verdict: not as rounded, muted and as enjoyable as 'basic backy' (perhaps the three years younger made this true?)-

Bottle shared in CW - cheers to Dave. Pours black-brown with a foamy, tan head. Medium to big sweet flavour, nicely spiced in autumnal terms, some cocoa. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation. Sweet, lightly warming finish. Sound.

6th Floor bottleshare. Thanks Wingman. Opaque dark brown beer, small tan head. Smooth and slightly viscous palate, reasonable fine carbonation. Tangy tonkaish chocolate malts, a little spice. The barrelling merges with the pumpkin fairy well. Spicy finish. Nice pumpkin stout.

On tap at Prairie OKC, pours black with a small beige head. Aroma brings out cinnamon, nutmeg, some bourbon, and attenuated dark sugars. Flavour is very dry, with lots of pumpkin pie spices, subdued bourbon, and some dark sugars that are mostly attenuated out. Dry, spicy, and a little better than the Basic Becky, but still not my thing.

No mistaking this for a non pumpkin stout but it's balanced enough that nothing attacks you too spice wise except maybe clove. Needs more pumpkin pie vibes to crush but still pretty good.

Bottle. Black beer with a brown head. Xmas spice and brandy aroma. Brandy and xmas spice flavor with caramel. Medium-plus bodied. Brandy and xmas spice linger with caramel and light chocolate. Much more brandy than bourbon flavor.
