The Meerts Tilquin series was made by fermenting fruit that had already been used once. Mirabelle was fermented for a period of 4 months in a blend of 80% 1 year old Meerts and 20% of a blend of different 2 year old lambics. Meerts (or March Beer) is a low strength lambic, which was originally produced with the weaker wort obtained from the rinsing of the grains. Unfiltered and unpasteurized, they are refermented in the bottle.

375mL bottle, pours a hazy pale golden blonde with a small white head. Aroma is fairly faint, with obscured plum skins, earthiness, and a touch of funk. Flavour is lightly tart, with tart plums, gentle acidity, a touch of juiciness, and light earthy funk. Definitely tastes like spent plum, but pleasantly done. Good stuff.

Bottle. Rose-tinted exploded view, small white head lasts a while. Old straw funk, lemon, plums. Soft textured, moderately sour. First of these that's had a bit of a diluted feel. Dries out towards the oaky end. Pretty good.

Bottle: Poured a golden color lambic with a small foamy head with limited retention and light lacing. Aroma of tart notes with light plum and some funky ester notes. Taste is also a mix of funky ester with some tart notes and light oak presence with some plum notes. Body is about average with low carbonation. Well made fruited lambic but plum notes could have been more upfront.

Bottle. Lovely clear golden. Again also the funk is up front, quite mineral and cellar like with a hint of sulphur. There’s some mirabelle but not as intense as some of the earlier experiments or the oud mirabelle. But the base beer is great and the mirabelles really add something too. Good!

Light hazy yellow colour, thin layer of foam. Funky, lemony, unripe stone fruit, not a lot of mirabelle but nonetheless easy drinkable and well balanced.

Pale yellow colour with light haze and quick fading head. In the aroma the tang of the tart plums comes through strongly as does the signature Tilquin farmyard funk. Flavour is the same with a really clean, tart, fresh note from the fruit.

Bottle from Radbeer. It pours clear pale golden - orange with a fluffy, lasting white head. The aroma is fresh, quite juicy, sweet - sour, plum, apricot, peach, fizzy sour candy, musty, funky, barnyard and dry oak. The taste is crispy, dry, snappy, bright acidity, juicy, loads of lovely stone fruit... plum, apricot, peach, fizzy sour candy, twist of citrus, splash of white wine, dry oak, hit of tannin, funk, hay and barnyard with a drying, zingy finish. Medium body and moderate, fluffy carbonation. Good depth of flavour, lovely interplay of fruit and funk. Quenching and satisfying.
