At Old Nation, we like interesting questions. For a long time an interesting question to us has been, how can we make a lower ABV New England Style IPA with the same aromatic impact and soft mouthfeel as our higher ABV offerings of the same style? It’s a harder question than you might think, but after two years of experimenting, Low Orbit is our answer.

Using state-of-the-art yeast, timelessly perfected grain, hops from the Pacific Northwest, and traditional brewing techniques, we’ve made a full flavor, full-bodied NEIPA with only 4.5% ABV. It’s our new daily drinker at the brewery and we hope it sits beside M-43 at your favorite table and in your fridge at home.

Aroma: Fruity hops with citrus. Flavour: Light fruity bitterness with fruity sweetness and notes of citrus. Aftertaste is sweet and bitter. Colour: Hazy yellow with a white head. From: Can @ Beershoppen webshop.

Can, 4.5%. Hazy yellow with small white head. Aroma is malt, fruit, hop, citrus and pine. Flavour is malt, fruit, hop, citrus, pine, medium sweet, fruit peel and medium bitter.

0,473 litre Can, from Systembolaget Ölstudion. Cloudy yellow with big white head. Malts, hops, yeast, orange, spices, sweetness, mild, thin.

16oz can. A perfectly acceptable Session IPA. Hops have a little of the green garlic, oniony tone...another few weeks and this might not be acceptable. Decent hop depth. Seltzerish malt free body...not sure why this would be desirable. Drinkable, but no way I'd ever pay for this again under any circumstance.

Sampled from the tap at the grotto. Pours a hazy light yellow with a hint of peach and a white head that dissipates slowly to the edges and laces slightly. Aroma has earthy mango and grass with a bit of sweet grain supporting. Flavor has dank mango and light onion with a sweet grain backbone.
