Bottle at home. Clear golden color, average sized white head. Aroma is lightly malts, orangepeel, orange. Flavor is similar with a soft citrusy touch and an almost sweetish aftertaste. Okay body and carbonation. Drinkable.

Helder goudgeel bier met mooie schuimkraag. Smaak is bitterzoet en fruitig met duidelijk iets van een marsepein achtig aroma, wat citrus en iets van gras. Heel goed.

Keg at L'Amour Fou, Brussels, A well hopped tripel that actually went down pretty nicely. The ABV was not as strong in the taste as it seemed. Radiant gold.

Hazy blond colour, white foam. Nose of citrus, some peach and banana. Bitter, citrus, a bit grassy. Not bad.

Bottle from Dranken Vandewoude and drunk at home. Clear gold amber colour lasting white head. Sherbet citrus aroma. Some esters. Some Belgian ipa character. Not a lot of bitterness. Bit oily on the hops. Like a green hop beer. OK but could be better. Oh its supposed to be a tripel. Well that makes sense some tangerine flavour some sweetness. Some fruit spice. Still not sold on it though. Falls between 2 stools. Belgian ipa and tripel

A later addition to this St. Hubertus range, oddly commissioned by Carlsberg from Du Bocq and, with the necessary amounts of money behind it, now obtruding into the established Belgian 'macro beer world' in both (some) cafés and supermarket shelves - much to my annoyance and probably even more to the annoyance of the Belgian macro brewers... 'Orval-esque' bottle with only neck label from a Delhaize supermarket - but the Saint Hubert logo (with deer) is rendered in some kind of bas-relief on the front of the bottle. Thick, very pillowy, tightly 'Brugse kant'-like lacing, snow white, even-bubbled, stable head on a crystal clear, pure golden blonde beer with metallic 'old golden' hue and a whirlwind of enthusiastic sparkling in the middle; unexpectedly turns misty with sediment so apparently unpasteurised. Aroma of banana, plaster, natural rubber, lemon-scented hand soap, unsweetened bubblegum, green apple peel, damp straw, baking soda, wet acrylic, grass, plastic, soaking wet cardboard. Sweetish onset, clean but still hinting at banana and pear, lively carbonated with sourish and minerally effects travelling along a smooth-edged, slick, rather glueish sweetish pale maltiness, very cereally and a tad white-bready, with somewhat metallic and also bubblegummy edges; simple grassy and slightly leafy hop bitterness grows in the end, but Citra as such remains completely unrecognisable - this could be any hop, noble or New World, used the wrong way. The hops offer very little retronasal aroma apart from something grassy and flowery; meanwhile minerally, lightly metallic and bubblegummy effects accompany an ongoing pale malt 'cerealliness' with an annoying honeyish sweetness to it. The alcohol only makes this abomination worse by adding unnecessary astringency in the very end. Even worse than expected, this industrial concoction tries to convince me of the qualities of Citra hops - well, it is a real shame that this beautiful hop variety has to end up in something as terrible as this. Seemingly aiming to compete with Moortgat's Duvel Tripel Hop Citra (which is not the best publicity for Citra either, I know, but in itself still tasty enough), this one turns a similar recipe into something utterly bland. I did not understand where this St. Hubertus brand suddenly came from and I still find it one of the most irritating newcomers on the Belgian market of the past few years - I fervently hope it will disappear again quickly, and I am not intending to taste the whole range. 'Hop-forward Belgian strong blonde' at its worst, ignoring those absurd 'IPA' versions of Leffe which plagued the country some years ago.

15/VIII/22 - 33cl bottle, shared @ Bier Central (Gent), BB: n/a (2022-1003)

A little cloudy yellow blond beer, big solid creamy off-white head, stable, a little adhesive. Aroma: nice, fruity, some grapefruit, juicy, decent actually. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: gentle bitterness, fruity, banana, very yeasty, where’s all that hop? Meh. Aftertaste: fruity, pretty sweet and malty, some caramel, banana, yeasty, meh, not good. Too old maybe, or just bad. Don’t like it.
