Can at home. Opaque pitch black color, medium to full sized dark brown colored head. Aroma and flavor are malts, dark malts, roast, light iron, light peat. Lingering peat and dark roasted malt bitter finish. A little harsh on the roast and peat especially in the finish. Decent.

Can at home, 13th June 2020. Pours black and viscous, aroma is roasted malts, meaty, light liquorice. Taste is bitter, roasted malts, some savoury Notes and dark chocolate. It’s complex, bitter and flavoursome, very little sweetness, my kind of imperial stout. Great stuff named after a great hero.

Can picked up from Hoptimism Webshop, Loughborough, Leicestershire UK and consumed at Camping Resort Zugspitze, Grainau, Nr Garmisch Partenkirchen, Wednesday 10th June 2020, in the company of Kostas, cooking Pastitsio and listening to John Renbourne - The Attic Tapes. Pours almost black with a beige head. On the nose it's roasty a little hint of spice, cinammon perhaps. Smooth and creamy mouthfeel, chocolate, creamy a little burnt toast or actually wood, good beer but lacking a little in some departments.

16/5/2020. Sample courtesy of minutemat, cheers Mat! Pours thick and black with a creamy tan head. Aroma is dark chocolate, roasted malt, toffee, coffee and nut. Medium sweetness and medium plus roasted bitterness. Slick oily texture. Very soft carbonation. Quite a bitter finish to begin but it mellows very nicely.
