Pours viscously, slowly building up a dark greige head, pitch-black beer. Speculoos herbs, coumarine, stoutroast, burnt-roasted but still retaining sweetness, and a hint at Bourbon or rum. Roasted, smoked ham, and sweet herbs; honey even. Finish is roast/burnt. Thick, viscous texture, medium bodied, alcoholheat especially backthroat. Sweetish, decent Imperial Stout.

Collaborational ‘impy’ brewed at Frontaal, tasted from tap at BCBF. Thinnish and open, yellowish beige ‘ring’ over black beer with hazy burgundy edges. Aroma of hazelnut oil, chocolate liqueur, treacle, walnut, whisky, coffee grounds, varnish-like solventy effect. Sweetish onset, fig, raisin, with a light umami aspect; softish carb, full and oily mouthfeel as it ought to be in this style. Full hazelnutty, toffeeish and black-chocolatey malt body, nuttiness lingering in the finish while warmed up by a whisky-like alcohol glow and dried by a spicy hop bittering effect; roasted bitterness is there in sufficient amounts, even if remaining a bit ‘tame’ for me. Sweetness lingering along with a solventy effect as you often get in very strong stouts. Classic ‘postmodern’ imperial stout decently executed, enjoyed it.

Tap at the Borefts after Festival 2018. Poured a clear dark brown colour with a big frothy, short-lived tan head. The aroma is roasty malt, liqouirce, charcoal, light caramel, boozy alcohol. The flavour is moderate sweet, liqouirce bitter, with a big rich, roasty, slightly oily, smoky, liqouirce, dry hop bitter palate and a lingering alcohol bitter finish. Full bodied with soft carbonation.
