CBJ Tasting. Aroma is roasty and herbal. Opaque dark brown. Frothy foamy beige head. Flavourwise it starts off slightly low-key before herbs, liquorice and similar knock you over the head. Punchy. Light-medium bodied. Slick verging on oily. Soft-fizzy carbonation. Long dry somewhat astringent finish. Nice.

Good stuff. Nicely toasted malts, burnt orange peel, ash, bitter dark chocolate. Pine, burnt toast. Very nice.

Can, thanks to the team. Near clear dark brown beer, small bubbly tan head. Light palate, semi dry, good fine minerally carbonation. Thin bodied dark malts, good chocolate and a little roast bitterness. Good cooling pine, a pleasant but ripe citrus hop, some citrus peel. Light finish. Again with this brewery, good flavour, thin body.

Medium bodied, fine carbonation, drying close spiked with earthy hop bitterness.
Tidy CDA.

On tap at Mikkeller at Morebeer. Pours dark brown with an off-white head. Tons of pine and dank oils on the nose. Flavour has tons of bright pine, dank hops, gentle roast. The hop expression is excellent, but the roast is a bit lacking.

Review based on the BJCP2021 guidelines (style 21B: black IPA). Can 50 cl - Batch undeclared (BB: 02.07.2025). AROMA: medium-high hop aroma (grapefruit, pine, mandarin). medium-low malt background (dark chocolate). APPEARANCE: very dark brown color with ruby highlights. medium-low light brown head with medium retention. TASTE: initial medium hop flavor (mandarin, pine), followed by medium-low roasted malt background (faint chocolate). medium-high to high bitterness with a dry and slightly roasty finish. MOUTHFEEL: medium body with medium carbonation. OVERALL: a nice and balanced black ipa with notes from both worlds.

500ml can, 7.1 % abv, bought at Pułapka in Gdansk. Shared at a tasting session with Synny, lmojoh, and Finn. Almost black in the glass, covering fawn-coloured head, spotty lacing. Inviting malt-fruity aromas, moments of chocolate and ripe fruits. Quite well balances taste of forest, spruce, and chocolate malts. Nicely roasted malty ending with a bitter twist. Fine bodied. Like it. (Tromsø, 12.12.2024).
