Faithfull Ale is a celebration of Pearl Jam's 20th anniversary as a band and its extraordinary debut album, "Ten." In recognition of these milestones, this Belgian-style golden ale is delicately hopped to 20 IBUs and fruit-forward from 10 incremental additions of black currants over a one-hour boil. Faithfull clocks in at 7% ABV.

"To me, 'Ten' is the perfect example of a record-lover's-record. The whole thing rocks," says Dogfish Head President & Founder Sam Calagione. "As an off-centered brewery, we believe in celebrating the breadth of our whole portfolio and we feel an affinity for Pearl Jam a long-player band in a singles-obsessed world."

Faithfull Ale is the third beer in our Music Series, following our Miles Davis-inspired Bitches Brew and our beer tribute to blues man Robert Johnson, Hellhound On My Ale.

ChrisOs Christmas Tasting. Clear gold beer, little white head. Palate is semi dry with very fine carbonation. Lagerish malt. There are subtle fruits here - very subtle. Dry lagery finish. Not bad.

Pours a mostly clear light golden color with a thinnish white head with minimal retention. Smells a bit fruity with a bit of pepper mostly. A light bit of non descript dark fruits with a Belgian yeasty twang. Taste is a bit sweet with dark fruits, candied sugar, pepper, and clove. Medium body and level of carbonation with a sweet slick mouthfeel. Decent beer, I enjoyed it, but it really didn’t wow me.

Draft at Crunchy’s, East Lansing. Clear to slightly hazy straw body, thin off-white head. Fruity berryskin nose, also straw or wet hay. Sugary body with currant, sharp like white grape juice infused with candi sugar, also sharp grain and alcohol notes. Delicate, nectary, and honey-like but finishing with a rough grassy graininess and alcohol notes. I almost believe.

Draft at DFH Alehouse, Falls Church. Came in glass mostly flat (bubbles, but no head), aroma was overtly sweet, with notes of sugars and black currants and other dried fruit aromas. Flavor was subtle dried fruits (black currants), and a residual sweetness. Okay, but a pricy draft for what it was.

Location: 750 ml bottle shared by jcos, 3/15/12

Aroma: The nose is fruity and malty, with some earth, and light spice
Appearance: The pour is a clear golden color with a small fizzy head
Flavor: The taste is much like the nose, with yeast, fruit, and some spice
Palate: The body is light-medium, with an average carbonation, and it drinks easily
Overall Impression: This one was differentish, drinkable, and fairly unexciting. I didn't hate this one, but I wouldn't rush out for another.

On tap at the vintage estate. Somewhat plastic aroma. Lemony bubbly appearance. Nice foamy head. Taste of hay initially then it morphs into a higher alky thing. Some alky burn going down the throat. Each taste is that evolution; hay then alky. Not bad for a higher alky beer. I even thought it was a session brew at first till that alky set in. Quite strong and lingering on the finish.

Bottle shared by Greg, thanks! Pours a near clear gold with an off-white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has note of earthy grain and hay with a hint of backing fruit. Flavor has notes of earthy grain and and a bit of cereal backed by a hint of fruit.

750mL bottle, pours a hazy golden orange with a small white head. Aroma of fall spices (pumpkin, nutmeg), faint berries and mild sweetness. Flavour of faint berries, mild sweetness and the aforementioned spices. Pretty boring and unspectacular.
