A Thornbridge classic that we last brewed in 2012. Geminus is a heavy-hitting, Imperial Rye IPA. It’s an alluring amber colour, with a pleasant sweetness and subtle spice from the rye addition. This is balanced by a distinct and powerful hop bill. Selected to complement the malts, with flavours of candied apricot and grapefruit in abundance.

Bottle, small stable bubbly head, clear and quite deep orange colour, orange blossom and marmalade, some onion and maltiness behind, flavor of citrus with a strong malty backbone and a medium strong bitterness. Nice, just a bit one dimensional.

On at at Skaal. Bright amber body, ring of lacing down the glass, covering off-white head. Inviting grapefruit and lemony nose. Similar fruity taste of grapefruit and lemon joined by leafy hops on a backbone of mid-sweet malts. Resinous bitterness to a long tail. Well bodied. Good drinking. (Copenhagen 21.10.2021).

A golden beer, a head is quite small and blond. Aroma has citrus, grapefruit, light mango. Taste grapefruit, some caramel and bitterness, maybe some spicyness of rye. Medium bodied. Well not so much of fruitness there.

(Bottle, 0.33 l - 30.07.2022, from Alko, 20211007) The beer poured deep golden and clear. Its head was medium sized and white. Aroma had pine, grass and malts. Palate was medium bodied and soft with medium carbonation. Flavours were pine, grass, rye bread, malts and bitterness. Aftertaste was hoppy, lightly spicy and properly bitter. A pleasant hoppy brew with round palate.

On cask at Coach and Horses, Dronfield - Dec 2011 - Good and hoppy, with a rich boozy kick at the end. Feels heavy and oily in the mouth, but the pine notes seem to clear that. A good one to have in passing, but not one to spend a session with... which I did. With bad memories.
