That light at the end of the tunnel illuminates your journey. Ours started with the rawest form of an untraditional Best Bitter. Today we find ourselves setting off in a new direction that is even more welcoming, like a pub fire after a long walk.

Can from the Low Cost Beer online shop, another one well in date though. Pours hazy amber with a thin off-white head. Aromas of brown bread and floral hops. Very traditional. Taste is surprisingly thin. Not a right lot going on. Thin finish.

Cask @Luppolo Station (Rome). Dorata, leggermente torbida, schiuma bianca media, discretamente persistente. Al naso note maltate, di biscotto, terrose, di tè, leggermente fruttate. In bocca ha un ottimo bilanciamento tra la parte maltata e i luppoli, pur con un amaro abbastanza presente in chiusura. Corpo leggero, carbonazione soft. Ottima.

On tap at Beer Emporium, pours a fairly clear pale golden with a small white head. Aroma is smooth, with soft bready malt and very subtle floral hops. Flavour is likewise very soft, with bready malt, almost no hops, and grain. When it's not on cask, you can really confirm that there's almost nothing to these! Smooth and drinkable nonetheless.

Canned (from MiniMani Vaasa). Hazy orange colour, small white head. Aroma is floral, fruity, some mild nectary and mild herbal tones with mild wooden tones too. Flavour is nicely sweet floral tones with some freshly cut wood, grass and mild herbal and sweet malty tones too. Kind of Golden Ale like Best Bitter...

Pours clear, surprisingly light and pale blonde. Small white head. Scent is mild, some english malts, caramelly touch (crystal malts?) fine and elegant. Fairly hidden on the hops. Taste is super smooth, pale malts, tad crystal maltyness as well. Fine herbal hoppy aroma that suits the beer very well. Restrained but not lost bitterness. Lingering maltyness. Very low carbonation, medium body. Super easy drinker, and a pleasant beer. Not the most intense bitter i've had, and perhaps a bit light in color as well, but I'm always happy with a low ABV ber this good.

Cask at the Southampton Arms, London on 19th April 2023. Hazy amber with shallow disappearing foam affording spot lacing. Fruity, sweet caramel malt aroma. Berry fruits and caramel malt in-mouth with some leafy hops. A finish to match the liquid pass. Light bodied with a smooth texture.

Cask ale, half-pint shared with Finn at Moor Vaults. Hazy golden body, covering white head, spotty lacing. Herbal hops and earthy malts on the nose. Grain-fruity flavours, hints of ripe citrus, mild malty sweetness in the back. Rounded hop fruity ending with distant bitterness. Pretty decent. (Bermondsey, London 10.02.2023).
