(swing top bottle) Clear, dark amber colour with a short and tanned foamy head. Molassy toast-malty aroma with caramel, cacao, nutty notes and a subtle touch of dried fruits. Sweet flavour, full bodied with a very soft, if not a bit flat carbonation. Toasty malty taste with notes of caramel, molasses and dried fruits; sweet and moderately toasted malty and subtle fruity finish. 29.V.12

Bottle looks good, beer in the glass dark, almost black, small head. Starts strong-malty, fine roasty, nice notes of liquorice. Finish milder, a bit alcoholic. Okay, but there are better doppelbocks out there.

Altmodische Bügelverschlußflasche: Copper to deep amber coloured, small and stable off-white head with a little lace, molassy-caramelly nose with a rural touch, dried fruits and some hops underneath; moderate bitter-sweet flavour, only medium bodied; shorter caramelly and fruity finish. Tasty, but tame...
