Panda at home, thanks to Kenneth, 13/07/2025.
Moderately hazed mahogany brown topped with a beige cap that thins to a swirl.
Nose is ripe fruit esters, figs, caramel, light booze, tobacco.
Taste comprises liquid fruit cake, caramel, figs, prunes, toasted brown sugars.
Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a balanced rising boost.
Decent easy drinking and approachable Life ... light and airy for the style.

Hazy amber beer, decent pale tan head. Smooth palate, soft with reasonable fine carbonation. Soft and forward creamy caramel malts. A decent savoury treacle vibe. Aged fruits. A fair old bitterness on the back end. Interesting. Tastes like any number of historic brews from the 1960s and 1970s but with more vibrancy.

From tap at De Beugel, Arnhem. Heavy on the raisins, malt, caramel, tobacco, more dried fruits, dates. Medium sweet, moderate bitter. Lots of raisins in the finish. Pretty rich and drinkable, very easy for a Barley Wine. Well done.

(Draught at Arendsnest, Amsterdam, 18 Feb 2024) Reddish brown colour with creamy, beige head. Malty, slightly spicy nose with caramel, dried fruit, raisins, dates and apricots. Malty, vinous taste with notes of caramel, dried fruit, raisins, prunes, dark bread and a balanced spicy bitterness. Full body, with a certain sweetness. Warming and well balanced barley wine. Nice one.

On tap at Proeflokaal Arendsnest, pours a deep dark red with a small off-white head. Aroma brings out toasted caramel, some red fruits, and bready malt. Flavour is very malty, with no hops, just lots of toasted caramel and red fruits. Sweet, oily, lacking complexity. It's alright, rather sweet - hardly has the depth for a barley wine.
