Sample at the Hills Market beer tasting on 09/19/2013: Pours a clear orange-gold color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily to an outer ring. Short strings of lacing. Aroma of smoked malt and hops. Medium body with a subtle smoky character and flavors of earthy malt and hops. The finish is sweet with a charred malt aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Bottle sampled in 2010. Slightly cloudy reddish amber body with a fast disappearing off-white head. Light smoked aroma with malt. Flavor is light smoked malty, hint of bacon and slightly acidic. Medium body and smoke in aftertaste as well. Not the best balanced smoked beer.

Pours deep mahogany into a stem glass. Mocha head with good retention recedes to coat surface leaving trailing sheets. Mild nutty caramel aromas. Medium bodied with earthy caramel upfront turning to mild smoke before the lasting metallic finish.

Bottle @ home, shared with Dutchdrebus. 2009 Vintage, No. 787 of 960 written on the label. Clear yellow / orange / golden color, small white head. The aroma isn’t smoke at all! I smell wort, hay and something weird. Taste malts, grains and slightly hops somehow. Again no smoke. Decent carbo, low to medium body.
