Marked batch 007 on the bottle label. Matured in a Carsebridge 1963 cask although this is not detailed on the label.
This bottle containes our Imperial Stout which has been matured in specially selected Scottish Grain whisky casks resulting in a complex vanilla overload and a unique whisky and beer fusion.

Bottle, Rainhall Drinks Co, Barnoldswick. Super dark mahogany tinged brown with a beige head that dissipated to nothing. Aroma was roasted malt, vanilla, wood and whiskey. Much of the same in the flavour which was sticky sweet and with pretty well masked alcohol. Dryish , woody finish. All in all a tasty drop.

Bottle from Corks, Bristol. Near black with a hint of red and a big tan head. Aroma of dark fruit, large amounts of vanilla and some toffee. Flavour began with some sweetness, a hint of peaty whisky, more vanilla and a warming alcohol finish. A different, Scottish take on an imperial stout, which proved enjoyable.

Bottle: Poured a deep black color stout with a small bubbly head with limited retention and no lacing. Aroma is a mix between some barley malt with some fine whiskey notes but not as much peat as in the Islay stout. Taste is also a very well balance mix between some barley and roasted notes with some fine whiskey notes though direct alcohol was noticeable. Very well done but I prefer when more peat is noticeable.

Bottle. Immediately after popping the cap, a heavy aroma of malty sweetness, some roasted malt and dried fruits escapes the bottle. It pours a nice ruby copper body, clear, with a small, firm beige head. Prunes, sultana raisins, dark grapes, caramel and some alcohol fill in the blanks in the aroma. It’s quite effervescent, full-bodied and with a pleasant warmth from the alcohol. The flavor has roasted malt, raisins and prunes, fruity and slightly piney hops and some alcohol. As the beers warms up, some mocha occurs. The finish has a nice lasting bitterness to balance the sweetness. A quite complex beer that is in the same league as Julebokk from their competitor Ringnes. It’s maybe a bit evident on the higher alcohols, but really pleasant and works nicely as a by-the-fire beer, or with some nuts and a slice of cheese. Don’t let it get too warm, as some notes of cooked vegetables then shows up. (081212)

Bottled. A pitch black beer with a thin bubbly brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of whiskey, wood, alcohol, and roasted malt, as well as some chocolate. The flavor is hard roasted with some sweetness and strong notes of alcohol, biting the tip of the tongue, as well as some pretty strong notes of whiskey and grain, and medium notes of caramel, roasted malt, and wood, leading to a dry woody finish.

Bottled BBE 2008. Very dark ruby, almost opaque color, small espresso head. Strong roasted barley and licorice aroma mixed with Scottish vanilla aroma whisky. Roasted, coffeish stout with loads of vanilla. Paradox without smoke but with extra vanilla. Good.

(Bottle) Very dark brown, almost black, with ruby hints through light. Frothy, brief, brown head leaving lacing. Roasted, malty, woody nose with oak, dried fruit, strong sweet coffe and vanilla. Malty, roasted, woody taste with notes of strong sweet coffee, dried fruit, raisins, cocoa, liquorice, vanilla and vinous hints of port in the finish. There is a decent bitterness lurking beneath everything else. Full bodied, rather sweet. Very nice and warming beer in almost perfect balance. In short: strong, sweet coffee with vanilla and a splash of something stronger.

Bottled (from Ölkonsortiet, Aalborg). Very deep amber, close to black, colour, not that much head. Aroma is vanilla, malts, mild roast, toffee and quite much licorice. Flavour is lots of wood and vanilla along with lots of licorice and caramel.

Bottle thanks to bu11zeye. Listed as best before 12/08. My favorite BrewDog to-date. Pours with no head and a dark brown body. Awsome aroma of whiskey barrel, vanlla, chocolate, coconut and a little bit of barrel bug. Reminds me a bit of Captain Lawrence’s Winter Warmer by the whisky barrel aroma. Taste is lots of chocolate and light barrel and wood, with vanilla and a vinous note with a bit of fig and ash. Long whisky filled duration. Creamy mouthfeel a bit on the warming side of things. Great stuff, one of the few BrewDogs I strongly recomend!
