High & Hazy IPA is loaded with three varieties of tropical and citrus forward hops. The soft and silky-smooth mouthfeel is obtained by using copious amounts of wheat and flaked oats, while the laid-back bitterness is achieved by the addition of hops at the very last minute.

Pretty hazy golden and peach coloured body with a thick, three to four centimetre tall off-white head that stays afloat for a long time. Aroma of oranges and grapefruity notes with some light wheat and oaty scents from the malt bill here, but the fruits are strongest. Medium-bodied; Strong citrusey and grapefruit notes show at first and contribute a lot of bitterness from the hops here with some of the alpha acids peeking through, but the malt balance is pretty nice with a big wheatie flavour. Aftertaste shows some light sweetness from the fruity side of things, but the oranges and grapefruit bring out more of the bitterness, all balanced out decently well by the wheatie malts with the hops showing strongest throughout. Overall, a decent New England IPA that has some light bitterness and fruit notes, but the wheatie malts are very easy-going with some light sweetness here that provides a drinkable beer with some nice flavours, just not a lot of complexity. I sampled this sixteen ounce, pint-sized can, purchased from Kroger in [downtown] Savannah, Georgia on 27-December-2022 for US$2,50 sampled a day later in my hotel room here in Orlando, Florida on 27-December-2022 with my wife and three kids on vacation over Christmas Vacation.

12 oz. can, 5.8% ABV, BBD: JUL1122

AROMA: Smells a bit sweet with soft scents of lemon, pineapple, guava, and mango. As the beer warms, I also detect scents of orange.

APPEARANCE: Pours a cloudy yellow-gold, with a medium-high, white head that has a tight froth and no lacing. The head dissipates moderately fast.

TASTE: Initially hit with mild sourness, quickly followed by mild bitterness. Predominant flavors are lemon, pineapple, and pine. I also get hints of orange and guava on the backend. The biggest issue I have is that the lemon really dominates the flavor.

MOUTHFEEL: Medium-bodied with a slightly tacky texture and above-average carbonation.

OVERALL: To me, when a beer is labeled "Hazy", I also think "juicy". This beer is definitely not "juicy". Yes, I understand that "juicy" is not part of the definition of a Hazy IPA. And I actually wouldn't complain about it not being "juicy", if it weren't for the fact that it says "juicy", right on the can! Now, I will admit that the beer is not "dry" either, but rather it is somewhere in the middle of "juicy" and "dry". So there may be others who do consider it "juicy". Just not me. ;)

At any rate, the other qualities of the beer are fine. But they could use some improvement. The flavor profile leans a little too much towards lemon, for my tastes. Letting the beer warm, does help some of the other flavors come out (orange, guava, etc.). But the lemon is still in the spotlight. Additionally, I was a little disappointed with the head. While it looked great as soon as I poured it, I found that it quickly dissipated into nothingness and left no trace that it was ever there (e.g. no lacing).

Over the years, I've enjoyed many of the other beers from Terrapin, but this one is a bit disappointing. It's not that I hate it, but rather that I don't think it is anywhere near as good as their other beers.

Can pour. It's a hazy yellow-gold with light sparkle, ephemeral off-white head and no lacing. Aroma is strong lemon citrus and pineapple. Taste is very strong lemon citrus and pineapple but to an artificially strong, industrial-cleanser sense. Mouthfeel is medium side of light-to-medium bodied with average-to-lively carbonation and sweet finish. Overall, they got their tropical and citrus flavor but too sweet and to an artificial, industrial quality.

OK, so I got this at Jr's and I'm drinken it right out of the can. I boldly assume it is hazy pale in color and eye. Smells like big dull IPA perfume. First swig is what else? Big blasting medicinal rude ass IPA, terribly on style. Next blast is the same, just a big rototilling plow across my palate. There are so many IPA out there, how could anybody even want to brutalize their manly buds with these things? Insulting to the palate, mouth coating continuous bitter impact. Whew, so big, so bad ass, so bastardized. There, you have it; the thoughts of a mild beer lover regarding another ubiquitous IPA.

Best buy date on the bottom of the can is April fools. The aromas are in the can, resin and citrus hops with some dry grain. In the glass the aromas lose most of the citrus and it's mostly dry grain. Flavors are better, citrus comes back out with some pineapple, very mildly sweet upfront with low bitter. Decent carbonation and slightly soft body. Good enough beer.
