Bottle 50 cl. Pours a clear yellow with a huge and frothy and lacing white head. Lovely aroma of clean malts and good German hops. Solid body with a massive base of sweet malts. Also some flowery hops in the finish and quite some alcohol. Could need a little more bitterness to balance the sweet malts. Delicious. 250610

Bottle: Pale (!) golden, some floaties visible, medium white fluffy head, that slowly diminishes; moderate sweet pale-malty nose with light traces of alcohol and almost woody hoppiness; solid sweet-bitter flavour, medium bodied; balanced sweet and distinctive hoppy finish. A very good, well balanced Bock.........

(bottle, vintage 2007, courtesy of Koelschtrinker) Unclear, pale golden colour with loads of floaties and a non-persistent frothy white head. Sweet, pale malty, strawy nose with subtle hints of citrus, herbal hops and light notes of alcohol. Moderately sweet flavour, pale malt character with a balancing hoppy bitterness; quite rounded malty sweet and slightly bitter finish with woody hops. Pleasant (01.04.08).

Bottle. Clear medium to dark yellow color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, toasted, light alcohol. Flavor is moderate sweet and light to moderate bitter with a average to long duration, and a dry finish. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft. (150208)

Bottle at LCRBM3. Gold with thin white head. Strong alcohol aroma, some decent cereal. Really quite drinkable even though some of the others at the meeting clearly didn’t think so. Good mix of syrup and strength.

No head left, yellow-gold, fully clear beer. Grains, grains and grain, as for a new bread. Toasted taste, fiery cookies, as well as some dried fruits, as apricots. Bitter almonds, alcohol. A bit sharpish MF, despite all the sugars. Unusual Bock. Sweet but not too sweet.

Der Gauder Bock ist in mehreren Dingen besonders, er ist aus der ältesten Privatbrauerei Österreichs, ist einer der einzigen Maiböcke des Landes und ist zudem das stärkste Festbier des Landes. Ob das Bier jedes Jahr gleich schmeckt weiß ich nicht, der Jahrgang ist auf jeden Fall nicht gerade klein aufgedruckt. Weniger besonders ist der Geschmack, das Bier startet mit eine alkoholischen, aber wenig störenden Note. Dazu ist das Bier getreidig, weitere Aromen sucht man vorerst vergeblich. Erst im Nachgeschmack schein das Bier aufzublühen, zu der konstanten Getreidenote stößt hier endlich ein schön malziger Ton, der wie bei einem Bock üblich, eine starke Würze mit sich trägt. Ein Top Bier, wenn die Aromen des Nachgeschmack auch vorher schon vorhanden wären.
