This is an incredibly rich and flavourful Baltic porter. It pour’s like the BP oil spill; thick, sticky and black. It’s a viscous mix of flavours with chocolate truffle being the dominant one. There’s burnt caramel, a hint of smoke and a nice balancing blast of port wine.

On tap at Cardinal, Stavanger. Black colour, large and creamy beige head. Aroma of roast malts, coffee and some pine. The fairly dry flavour has the same elements, quite bitter finish.

Yummi.

Can picked up from Walther Mai, München and consumed sat in Frank in Bodenmais, Friday 28th February 2025 after a loop walk from Bodenmais to Riesloch-Wasserfälle and a bit further on, it was really snowy up the mountain, in fact quite heavy. We had Pastitsio for tea tonight and we're listening to Afrodeutsche on 6Music. Okay finally onto the beer. Pours black with a tan head, maybe beige, difficult to be certain in this light. Rich and indulgent lots of chocolate some toffee and caramel thick, oily texture, plenty of flavour, very moreish and easy drinking considering the abv. I really like this.

Tap at 73 Enid Street. An opaque dark black brown coloured pour with a steadfast light tan head. Aroma is intense woody roast, char, liquorice campfire, toasted hazelnuts. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, vanilla, toasted bread, char, bitter roast, liquorice, vanilla. Palate is semi sweet, rounded, slightly creamy, to a drying bitter finish. Intense charred roast lingering. Maybe a little too bitter.
