Brett Porter is inspired by the ancient London Porters, superstar beers of the 1800s preserved in giant wooden barrels in which Brettanomyces yeasts would develop. Our Porter is not barrel-aged, but rather co-fermented with our house Brettanomyces, and brewed with magnificent special English malts.
She is black with a ruby accent. Her foam is dark beige, fine and persistent. The Brettanomyces are well present in the nose and add a winy character with hints of ripe cherries, as an old kirsh, and a bit of leather. A roasted, slightly smoky touch completes the picture. We find these flavours back in the mouth, accompanied by notes of moka, cocoa powder, and prunes. Her body is mellow but light, which makes her surprisingly refreshing and easy to drink!

Pours a very dark brown under an off-white, stable , medium sized head. Scent is Roasty, mild but present brett- not overpowering at all. A certain 'freshnes' to it. Taste is full, dry and sharp, brett gives it some funk, but the aroma's are more dominant on the roasty side. Not at all ashy, actually quite pleasantly roasted, with tones of coffee, chocolate, and what reminds me of charred oak (though this is not oak aged at all?) Higher carbonation than I'd prefer, but that's brett for ya. Easy drinking, somehow refreshing - especially for a porter. Dry, mildly bitter. Pleasant !

Bottle from Trader Joe's in Davis, CA. Pours very dark brown with a moderate creamy tan head. Aroma of mild sour, chocolate, dark malt and Brett. Med plus body. Flavor is the aroma with the chocolate being more cacao, and adding some dark fruit. More prune that date. Very tasty.

Bottle pour at Billie’s, on Saturday. Somewhat roasty, chocolaty and bready porter meets a fairly fruity, somewhat leathery and barnyardy funk in a sweet sweet unison. Well balanced, great stuff

330ml bottle. Darkest brown colour with average to huge, frothy, slowly osteoporosing, resettling, moderately lacing, dark beige head. Chocolately, dark malty and mildly bretty, funky, yeasty fruity aroma, hints of dark chocolate, milk chocolate, some milk sugar, dark fruit. Taste is sweet-ish and slightly roasty, chocolately, dark malty, mildly bretty, funky yeasty, notes of dark chocolate and milk chocolate, a touch of milk sugar, subtle tartness. Watery texture, minimally dry palate, medium, dense, prickly carbonation. Bretts work surprisingly well with the dark malt - very nice.
