Huge cream head, dense, over jet-black beer. Frying oil, Asian herbs, lightly roasted grains, sunflower seeds. Liquorice aroma, but not suggesting sweetness. Yet it turns out sweeter than most black IPA's are - then again it's Double BPA. Again liquorice with little sweetness. Roasted grains, giving some bitterness, whereas the hops are lacking. Finish has an almost stout acidity, and warming up, a light smoked ham flavour. Good body, well-carbonated, very oily-slick. Long lasting, if mild roast flavours. It's a nice beer in itself, but it lacks some hops to qualify as a regular black IPA.

440ml can. Jet black colour with average to huge, frothy to creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, beige head. Rather weak, roasty dark malty and resinous, piney hoppy aroma, a touch of dark chocolate, liquorice. Taste is bitter, roasty dark malty and bitter, resinous, piney, minimally herbal hoppy, notes of dark chocolate, some menthol, liquorice, coffee. Slightly oily, watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium, mildly prickly carbonation. Rather herbal, nice dirtiness - good.
